Session 9: Problems Overwhelming Report

General Summary

Fengrao and Heavens

Heavens and Fengrao fled the captivity of Captain Panther, leaping off the ship and quietly absconding, until some distance was made and Heavens conjured a Stormwind to carry them away. Following Fengrao's gut, they ended up on the southeastern peninsula of the Stygian Isle (The geographical area of the Blessed Isle, in the Underworld.) After conferring for a moment, they decided to set out for the eastern shadowland of the Black Chase, north of Sijan.   While crossing the Inland Sea, they were attacked by a hekatonkhire, in the form of a colossal shark-like creature. The beast surfaced, grabbing Heavens in its toothy maw and dragging him down to the very bottom of the Inland Sea while Fengrao watched. He was able to slay it just in time, before a mob of smaller feeders swarmed in and started feeding on the corpse.   The pair travelled up the great rivers, reaching Sijan, the city of the dead. It was heavily populated by ghosts, who Fengrao and Heavens treated with - while the ghosts were amicable at first, they grew vicious at the warmth of the living, forcing a confrontation that ended worse for the undead.   Entering the Black Chase, the pair finally made their way back to Creation, relieved at the warmth of the true Sun.

Galit

Galit was imprisoned in a cell designed to hold Exalted, with a demonic cell partner/guard that the Bull called Laraken Pattern-Eater, a crustaceous Second Circle Demon who consumed Essence, summoned by a sorcerer known as Samea.   The Bull visited Galit irregularly, giving him the chance to switch allegiances and join the icewalkers. While Galit continued to refuse the offer, the Bull reduced his rations but was content to hold him indefinitely.

Kai'hua

Kai was visited in the night by the Green Lady, who informed her that Fengrao and Heavens had gone missing from Creation. She was unable to provide any other information, and vanished seemingly without a trace.   Kai investigated several leads - discovering information on Laraken for Galit, and researching possible places for Fengrao and Heavens to have vanished to - concluding that they were either in the Wyld, or a Shadowland.

Mishal

Mishal investigated the temple of the Immaculate Dragons that the marriage ceremony took place in, discovering a hidden alcove in the roof where one could observe anything going on, without being seen themselves.   With little else to do before the marriage ceremony, he returned to the Cloister of Wisdom.

Thrudd

Thrudd remained hidden away in Wallport for a long time.   He was contacted by a youth, who claimed that they had been dispatched by Ragara Dayan to retrieve him to the Isle by cargo ship - although while on board, the youth went missing. Thrudd claimed he had gone overboard, but the crew was unable to find anyone in the sea. Thrudd confronted the captain, who hoped that the boy would be accepted as a sacrifice to the Storm Mothers.   Upon returning to the Ragara grounds in the Imperial City, he discovered that not only had Dayan not sent anyone to retrieve him, but that the Ragara had filed for him as missing presumed dead.

The Dream Meeting of 18th Descending Fire

At the scheduled time, Kai'hua reached out and pulled the Children into the dream of their home - bringing Fengrao and Heavens for the first time in some months. After celebrating their return, Mishal related his discovery of the hidden alcove above the seats. They formulated a plan - Heavens and Fengrao would retrieve Galit from the Bull before returning to the Isle. At the same time, Kai'hua felt a familiar pressure as someone attempted to breach the shared dream.   It was precious seconds before Kai'hua was able to get her voice over the Children, informing them of the attempt - and bare moments after that, Mishal was attacked in his sleep. He awoke to find the Ninja, standing on the ceiling above him, with murder in their eyes. As Mishal tried to displace himself, the Ninja moved with blinding speed to strike, before Mishal could move a finger.   Mishal made it out of the dormitory by translating through fire, and took to hiding in the courtyard to formulate a plan. A minute dragged by, and the Ninja walked out of the window and up the wall to the roof of the Cloister. They scanned the horizon and with a single step vanished into the darkness.   Mishal returned to the dormitory with a sinking heart - and found all 30 of his peers slaughtered. He ran to raise the alarm, and the entire monastery burst to life - with even the Immaculate Paragon of Earth joining the commotion. They accused Mishal of the slaughter, and in a moment of panic as the Immaculate Monks converged on him, Mishal ignited his inner sun - to immediate cries of 'ANATHEMA!'   Mishal was gone with another Firewalk, but two Fire Aspects followed through, striking with the Fire Dragon Style - to no effect on Mishal. With another Firewalk, Mishal was gone again, fleeing into an empty barn as a long, low note sounded through the air.   As the sun rose over Creation, Kai'hua and Thrudd were pulled in by the Wyld Hunt for interrogation by the infamous Huntsman, Peleps Deled. When Thrudd refused to co-operate and fled through Earthwalking, Deled pronounced that Kai'hua would suffer for the impudence. He drew his wavecleaver, Islands Drowning, and impaled Kai'hua - who had to fake death, as she was still pretending to be a mortal.
