Session 1 "The Story Begins" Report

General Summary

Arriving in Orthon the party slowly begins making their way to the the much talked of Broken Arrow tavern. Gunthar the Dragonborn disembarks and meets a new companion Rowan who is carried by the large dragonborn. Meanwhile Isaac finds himself in the human port city and quickly finds how disliked his race is to those of the city. Slinger, finding himself in jail once again, is released and comes across an elderly halfling and aids her across the muddy thouroughfair only to find that she has disappeared with a cryptic message. Taiah finding the inn easy enough climbs to the top and watches as travelers come and go. Lillyanna with escort from Wrathvale arrives at the northern gate and quickly finds herself in unknown and unfamiliar territory but with assistance finds the inn.   Through the evening the party gathers and converses learning a bit about each other with conversation over dragons. Rowan convinces Connor the owner and bartender of the Broken Arrow to allow him to perform and impresses him and the crowd in such a way as to earn the party room and board for 3 days. The next morning and after Isaac has discovered a rather smelly predicament in the stalls of the stable and unfortunate accident to Rockwell the party decides to travel north by river to the city of shrines, Wamor to hopefully help Slinger with finding a deity to follow. After some shopping for supplies the party leaves for the river wharf where Gunthar spots two temple craft approaching and speaks with the commander of one of the groups. There he learns that they can take the ferry north and he asks for Gunthar's aide at one of the fishing villages where some trouble has seemed to occur be it from river pirates or other it is unknown.   The voyage north is smooth for the first two days with minimal incident. Gunthar aides the crew through the voyage with Slinger teaching Rowan how to fish which he proves he is quite adept at. Gunthar and the party agree to help the captain further by keeping watch at night. During the second night Isaac is startled by what he fears is an attack and awakens Gunthar. Not seeing any danger Isaac reaches out to touch the minds of those about finding an unfortunate fellow with strange dreams. Using the power of his words he awakens the entire vessel only to be calmed by his companions. The next day they draw closer to the village Gunthar was told of and the captain finds a sand bar large enough to land safely for the night. Camps are set and families go about tending to themselves. Taiah and Lillyanna catch a couple of rabbits to add to the feast of fish, the party grateful for actual food vs rations. Gunthar supplies a large amount of wood for the fire with minor casualties to those standing near.   The party sets about their watches....during the final watch Gunthar moves along his patrol just as as a flaming arrow impacts the tree near him....he readies weapons....
