Session 8 "A Dragon's Oath" Report

General Summary

The party and their new charges leave the following morning.  Gunthar leads out to blaze a trail back to Faribyr.  Soon the rest of the party realizes that the pace he has set is almost too much for the children.  Lillyanna Moonbreeze along with Slinger and Rowan approach Gunthar to explain the situation.  Gunthar is adamant that they must move with haste.  Lilyanna speaks with him privately and discovers what is bothering the large dragonborn.  After the travel resumes with Gunther deciding to travel a bit further ahead with Slinger keeping him in eyesight in case trouble occurs.   After traveling for two days the party sets their respective camps and Gunthar begins to make his oath to his deity, The Platinum Dragon.  Hidden in a tree Slinger observes the ceremony and sees his friend branding himself with his oath.  As Gunthar collapses, Slinger rushes to his aide and sees what the dragonborn had truly done.  After a short discussion the pair part for the night to prepare for the next day.    On their third day through the fens while Gunthar and Slinger travel ahead while talking about his god and the previous nights events they spot two large birds circling.  The birds split with one of them heading towards the rest of the troupe.  The large owl begins to descend and the duo prepares to defend themselves.  The two soon find themselves standing before an elf dressed in robes who introduces himself as Uthran who has been sent to find Lilyanna.  He expresses his delight and relief that they also had found one of the missing councilwoman.   Meanwhile the rest of the party sees the second large bird approach and begin to circle.  Ithren watching from the ground lets the rest know that it was odd to see an owl in daylight.  Isaac reacting fires off an Eldritch Blast striking the bird who immediately transforms and falls to the ground.  Ithren and Lilyanna rush forward and discover it's an elf and work to heal her.  Lilyanna realizes it's Eifendry a young druid from Wrathvale.  The rest of the party is soon joined by Gunthar, Slinger, and Uthran.  After Eifendry recovers they meet privately with Lilyanna and Ithren.     During the meeting Uthran draws out a small bowl and shows Lilyanna how to use it.  As it activates she is connected with her mother and Queen Cerrydwin.  There she learns that the Queen's brother has been seen in the area of Faribyr and requests that if they can offer him any aid then do so.     Returning to the party Lilyanna explains the message and Uthran offers aid to help get them closer to Faribyr.  Opening a portal he helps them and their charges emerge from the swamps and a day closer to their destination.  Discussing on what to do with the news the party marches on.  During the night Lilyanna and Gunthar while preparing to watch out for trouble see several fires in the distance.  Are the fires signs of friend or for?
