Session 5 "The Pain Cave" Report

General Summary

As the party once more turns to depart Slinger sees that Mawinia has discovered something and goes to investigate. Upon closer inspection he finds another faerie dragon of yellowish color observing them on a nearby sign. As the party gathers watching the second dragon Unhf seeing them and approaches introducing them to Criux, a male who lives in the small grove in the village her son had set for her. After speaking with Maiwinia it's agreed that she will stay in the grove with Criux. The party says their goodbyes and departs to the southeast towards the Barrowfens. The fens are treacherous as the party soon finds out not only from wildlife but from the terrain itself. After a few mishaps of sinkholes, vines, and just the general muck and mire the party traverses the swamp. After several days they begin to see the ruins of watch towers and proceed forward cautiously. As they come to some terrain that is more rock then swamp they feel they are in the right area. It's at this time the part is attacked by a quartet of orc. Lilyanna changes into a bear and attacks, Gunthar using his breath strikes down a pair. Isaac unaware of Lilyanna being a bear frightens her off. Gunther moves to engage one of the four and is struck down. The party finishes off the quartet in short order keeping on alive and with the healing magic Lilyanna has she heals the large Dragonborn. After short discussion with the prisoner they discover that the men had been taken north and the women and children were to be sold into slavery. Lilyanna shows the party her wild shape abilities and turns into a tiger. Entering the cave and with Slinger and Gunther blind in the darkness, Isaac who has disguised himself moves into explore. After narrowing avoiding a trap he enters an area to discover a large orc. Trying to deceive the creature it smiles at him and lunges striking hard. It is joined by two other warriors as Isaac flees. Lilyanna sees Isaac running with the orcs in pursuit and sees him struck down from behind. Slinger lights a torch providing light for him and Gunther and battle ensues. Lilyanna the tiger tears the head from one of the pursuing orcs as Rowan and Gunther battle the larger of the 3. Slinger strikes true on the second warrior sending it to eternal rest. Gunther revives Isaac calling upon his god to heal him. Isaac turning causes the large orc to flee with his magic gaining Rowan and Gunther vicious strikes at it's back. In the depths of the cave system from where the large orc runs the party hears the sound of metal slamming to which the party catches up to the orc. The find him with reinforcements and then orders them into a room. Stepping forward it engages with Gunther looking to see who is the biggest and baddest. The orc strikes Gunther down for a second time and turns it's attention to the tiger. With the parties help it's taken down and Gunther is brought back from the brink. The party hears screams and other otherworldly sounds. Isaac moves forward and peers into the darkness.....
