Session 28: Riot in the streeets, Geek in the Sheets

General Summary

Continuing their instigation of the rioters, the crew took advantage of the chaos caused by the backpack bombed and moved to break the barricaded security line.    While Rogue barreled over the barricade line taking down two of the guards, Jackie moved in to engage one of the security guards failing to restrain him. Hector fired up the crowd into a rage following behind a handful of rioters as they stormed the line of Arasaka soldiers.   While the crew battled with Arasaka forces, Doug and Lady Santiago decided to join the fray and commit to doing a few more dumb things. Watching the rioter in front of him get blown to pieces, Hector found himself shot, lit on fire, and caught behind a pillar.   With his katana whirling and slicing through the soldiers, Rogue cut his way through the two soldiers that he tackled to the ground before being choked from behind and pulled off of them.    Dashing her way behind the lines, Riley quickly cut into an Araska officer before being thrown into a police vehicle.   Hidden by the depths of the crowd, Gene worked to gain control of the security vehicle that had been slammed into one of the Studio 54 building pillars by the force of the C6 explosion. While navigating the net in front of the building, the dark net avatars with red error faces again appeared to be around and attempting to access a hover platform.   Finally getting frustrated with his inability to hold the security officer who was firing at him, Jackie drew his shotgun bringing an end to one of the Arasaka men, while rioters began to tackle and beat another. Gene pinned the commanding officer between a barricade and the vehicle he commandeered, while Doug, Hector, and Lady Santiago attempted to unload their pistols into him.   While battling Riley, one of the guards managed to break a set of her wolvers, just before she skewered him with the other. Finding his footing, Rogue continued cutting his way through the soldiers he was fighting, forcing one to the ground and impaling the other upon his blade.   As the crew mopped up the last handful of soldiers, the pinned agent managed to drop a EMP grenade shutting down the car, briefly blinding Mordin, and deactivating Lady Santiago's cybernetic legs. Attempting to help her predicament, but not realizing the extent of the difference between nomad and slag tech, Hector locked up her legs leaving her to fix them herself.   As the crew attempted to work their way into the mega-building, Gene came face to face with the error netizen as he locked the doors from the inside before leaving. Without much difficulty however, the netrunner was able to override the doors forcing them open and letting the crowd pour into the lobby of Studio 54 headquarters.   Accessing one of the directory terminals, Gene was able to determine the most likely location of the main outbound traffic. The satellite controls on the 111th floor.   On the elevator, the crew members accustomed to finer amenities began to feel the lift accelerate abnormally. Once the speed reached a concerning level, Gene attempted to netrun into the elevator, only to be rejected by a much more skillful runner. Realizing that net access may not be possible, Gene and Mordin worked to crack open the panel and rewire the electronics. The elevator came to a screeching halt several floors above the 111th, as the crew regained control of the vessel.   On their target floor, the team realized that something was not right as there were scratch marks in the hallway floor leading up to a destroyed door.    Inside the offices, the crew found two avian like robots with talons on their hands and feet arguing in front of a locked door. One spoke in a low slow twang and the other sounded like a 1920's gangster. The two bots spoke about needing to free Alt, and that this would be their only chance as they tried to gain access to the server room.  Accessing the Studio 54 net, Gene determined that in the office were two other net runners and gained access to the camera system.   Jackie and Gene busted into the room announcing themselves and their goal to help Johnny Silverhand. The robots quickly agreed that they were there trying to help Johnny as well,  and after being confused by Michael Gene Kane, agreed to let the crew attempt to help them.   Gene was able to disable the security on the door to allow them access to the server systems and satellite access. As the crew prepared to upload the data that they were given by Singletary, they decided to review the information first. Doug immediately recognized the familiar splash of numbers as a transaction book as well as the names of those transactions belong too. The data was a log of monetary transactions belonging to the entire board of Militech. Agreeing that they would still need to upload the information, the crew ran into another block when the Satellite uplink was down. The two robots were failing to get set the uplink active, to which Gene had to once again step in and fix the problem. The bots spoke again about freeing Alt, and that this would be the only chance for her to escape Arasaka.   Once the uplink was connected, a very large stream of data immediately began to transfer, blocking the crews upload. Through the vid screens in the room, Alt's visage appeared speaking to the crew. She thanked them for connecting the uplink and allowing her to escape Arasaka, who had taken her captive using the soul killer program.    She then recognized Gene as the only person to have every survived the soul killer, and began to question him about how he managed to dodge the mortal program. Unsatisfied with his answers, Alt's image disappeared from the screens. Once the data stream had completed, the teams file uploaded successfully to the net.   The phone that Jackie had taken from Detective Tyco began to ring, and an automated NCPD message played when he answered. The message was a call for all officers to report to the city center to quell the riots, and informing them that they should use live ammunition to subdue the crowd.   As the crew made their way to the basement parking garage to try and find their way out, the video screens that stretched the height of the building inside the lobby began to change to the image of Johnny Silverhand playing a concert in the corporate plaza center under the lights of the NCPD AV's and surrounded by the riotous mob.   Finding multiple Studio 54 vans, the crew took as many as they could as they made their way out the back of the heart of the corporate center, finding nothing but empty streets and the debris and wreckage left behind from the failed attempts of the security teams to secure the town.
