Session 1: The Hand of the Remnant

Upon returning to Summit, Tony is initiated into the Hand of the Remnant; a secret organization run by those that have been around long enough to see the fallen empire in its glory with the purpose of guarding its secrets and, eventually, returning it to its former glory. Tony is introduced to his new party members: Galladin the Rhin-kin warrior, Melinoe the Croc-kin battle mage, and Sarah the Ahedyn martial artist.   After a night of rest, they are tasked with patrolling the streets of Summit while they wait for their briefing on the next leg of the journey north. On this patrol through the overcrowded streets, they come across a temple dedicated to the Shepherds of the Lost. Here, those seeking comfort and hope pray to the four guardians. Initially, this creates no conflict, but by the end of their patrol, the party observes a crowd of protestors form in front of temple, demanding that the temple be opened to those sleeping in the streets so they can have shelter. Despite the tension, no conflict broke out.   The party then attended their briefing, where they were informed that they are being sent north to the lost city of Pallium to see if they can uncover any advanced weapons developed by the fallen empire.   The following morning, they set out into the old mines beneath summit, but not after being gifted a Shieldhorn they named Tripps to carry all their supplies. They are also accompanied by a Scalekin named Talys, who is an expert on ancient technology. Venturing into the mines, they encounter a societal outcast, a group of bandits, a swarm of Pincers, and a pair of crawlers. They spend the night in one of the large chambers, licking their wounds before continuing their journey.

The Story So Far

During the First Light Festival in Sanctuary, a band of misfits found themselves conspiring to get rich quick by removing a leader of a criminal network and making off with his ill-gotten riches. The plan is interrupted when Gaunt attack a caravan nearing the city. The party, consisting of Flipbart the Krykor Hermit, Jyot the Ahedyn Madman, Lado the Snake-kin Veteran, Roxy the Ott-kin Bard, and Tony the Cat-kin Bounty Hunter. Defeated the first wave of Gaunt and discovered what had drawn them to that particular caravan: a strange glowing device, likely a relic of the lost empire.   Before they could flee the scene, they were apprehended by a group of soldiers with advanced technological equipment, later identified as the Eyes of the Remnant. The party was gathered before a judge with other general troublemakers in the city and sentenced to serve the Remnants as expendable soldiers. Amongst this group was a hybrid between a Horse-kin and a Narwhal-kin named Elsie from Springtop who became their sixth member. The party elected to travel north to Summit and were attacked by a mysterious force of purple-robed warriors. The origin of these attackers was never identified, but they were believed to be members of the local Feral Tribes. Once they arrived at Summit, they discovered that the city had come under attack. The gate was barricaded from both sides and the outer city was occupied by Gaunt-infected Anthropes, something that shouldn't be possible. After clearing the Gaunt, they were discovered that the survivors of the attack were not holding up within the inner city, most of which was under the mountain. Due to the unprecedented Gaunt infection in the outer city, no one would be allowed into the inner city until more Pureroot was acquired to create the antidote.   The Eye of the Remnant then tasked the party with going to Elsie's home of Springtop where Pureroot grows in abundance. The journey through the mountains to get there was relatively uneventful, but once there, the party was tasked with repelling a Shoalshark that was making its way up the river.   The party located the Shoalshark, but discovered mysterious tribals similar to the ones that attacked them on the way to Summit seemed to be trying to bait the Shoalshark with Gaunt-infected meat. The Shoalshark was defeated and one of the tribals was captured for questioning, but more tribals arrived and chased off the party.   Upon returning to Springtop, the party was given the choice to leave with a significantly smaller portion of Pureroot or remain in Springtop to defend it against the stirred up local tribes. Everyone stayed behind but Tony, who took as much Pureroot as he could carry and returned to Summit.
