Session 10: Return to the Caryatid Grove Report
General Summary
-We picked up as you were heading to the, now burned, Grove of Heroes to investigate any potentially missed clues and investigate if anyone else that was near the grove was affected by the nightmares. And to speak to Fotia, the Wildfire Druid Apprentice. -Upon arriving in the grove Zephyra used Detect Magic and was able to sense the ghostly remnants of the potent evocation magics that were used to burn the grove. She also detected some kind of tansmutation magic at the center of the grove. -Approaching the center of the transmutation magic, a massive molten golem pulled itself from the ground and attack. -Sealah used the Tidal Wive spell to great effect to subdue the beast while the others dealth massive chunks of damage to it. It even had legendary actions, it was some craaaazy shit. -When the golem was felled, it shattered into pieces and among the rubble was a the dead corpse of Fotia. You later learn that Nylea transformed the druid Fotia into the golem as punishment and to live in the ruined grove forever until you destroyed it and lifted the curse. -You see a nyxborn lynx cross through the grove, growl and hiss at you, and then disappear into the woods. It is a sign of ill omen from the Gods, possibly Karametra or Nylea. -You develop a stretcher and drag Fotia's broken corpse to the Winter Nexus. -As you enter the Winter Nexus you see a pale lion cross through the graveyard. Lions are common around the area. -You leave the corpse outside the entrance to the Winter Nexus proper and enter into the cave. -You meet a priest in the Winter Nexus and ask him about attending to Fotia's body. -Fabian asks the priest if they can read the Kelema Veil. He turns it around and asks if any of you would like to try to read it. Fabian and Sealah read the Kelema Veil and learns that the omen of the lynx was sent by Nylea.
