Greycott Catacombs Played 5/28/2022 Report

General Summary

Started in the vestibule, an almost empty room at the bottom of stairs with shelving on 1 wall. On the shelves were 50 potions in decorative bottles 30 potions of levitate (black bands on the neck) and 20 potions of slow (white bands on the necks) and beautifully carved wooden double doors in front of the group. There were no traps or locks on thew doors and they pushed inward down a few more stairs.
All of the floors seem to be made of pebbled cement, the walls have carved geometrical designs (where seen) and the ceilings are 25 feet above the floor with newer (about 400 year old) artwork. Very lifelike forest with humans reclining at ease and other races serving them. The trunks of the trees actually were pillars that extended about 7 feet down from the ceiling. As the group was looking around to get their barings Rhys noticed a bone slowly floating towards them about 6 inches from the ground. He attacked and his sword got stuck in the gelatinous cube. It was a viscous fight but luckily no one was sucked into it until it was almost dead.
Moving on they passed a small room with 6 bodies on shelves and 6 undead skeletons standing in the room. The undead noticed Chloe and attacked. It was a fairly easy fight but by the time the fight was over Savane was low on spells and the group decided to take a long rest. They retreated back to the vestibule and put their immovable rod against the big stone doors to the sewer to keep it closed and trapped the wooden door so that there would be a good warning if they were attacked. Rhys took first watch with no issues but on Chloe’s watch she heard bones clanking (?) with the sound getting louder, passing by the door and getting softer again but nothing else of note happened and rest was achieved.


The next morning the search resumed. Our hero’s continued to find and avoid the abundant traps … at the end of the hallway they came across a dried fountain and found a hidden door built into it (yay high search Chloe!) after a bunch of little spiders scurried away they found an old (rotting?) pouch. Chloe triggered the trap on the object by picking it out and a blade came out of the side and sliced her hand. Of course, Savane healed her, then they tied a thong around the object so that the knife couldn’t spring out again and investigated it. The group concluded that it is a key.
Farther along Chloe came across a trap that looked like it had been tripped but couldn’t find the source – until they came to a room a little way ahead where they discovered the corps of (presumably) an adventurer with a spear sticking him to the wall. Rhys took the corps down so that Savane could give him last rites but lightened him a bit in the process. He took a potion bandolier with 5 empty potion bottles and 5 bottles labeled Minor Healing, a silvered scimitar, and a “fat” leather belt pouch that had a “bulky necklace” with carnelians, 2 gold rings (1 plain gold band and 1 made of 5 strands of gold wire braided together), and a gemmed bodice dagger with small onyx and moonstone gems all of ancient design.
As they continued on they noticed a corps that had been partially unwrapped and was half on half off it’s shelf. Rhys straightened it out, put 2 silver coins back into it’s eye sockets and re-wrapped it They got to the end of the corridor and Chloe tripped a trap. A concealed net dropped a lot (50 or 60? don’t have a good eye for size) of large stones – most 6 to 10 inches in diameter – into the area in front of them and down the stairs at the end of the hall. They moved back to avoid the trap and were attacked through the floor by a specter. Our hero’s defeated the specter and we ended the journey at that point.
