Kanisura's Ruined Temple 2 Sched 7/23/2022 Report
General Summary
AREA 15
- Our heroes found nothing of interest in this hallway, except for the secret door leading to area 16.
- Another hallway, there were several sculptures on the walls here and two more halls branching off from this one. One of the sculptures of an eagle, held a bracelet in it’s beak. Vasta was able to figure out how the trap holding the jewelry worked and retrieved it. Poppy identified it as a Bracelet of Rock Magic
- If the party kept going they would have ended up in a magically shadowy hallway full of withered corpses standing upright on either side of the hall. They decided to investigate one of the side halls before finding out what was waiting for them here.
- They chose the corridor closest to the door that they came through. As soon as they turned into it they noticed a blinking light that seemed to keep just to the edge of their vision. The group was briefly stopped by a pit trap but were able to negotiate fairly quickly.
- Further on Vasta noticed a trap in the floor and while she was deactivating it the blinking light showed itself to be a wisp and attacked. The group was able to handle both the trap and wisp handily, with it retreating before it was killed.
- This foul-smelling room contains 12 giant fire beetles. Rhys cast speak with animals and convinced them that the group was a. not after their nest and b. was not food (a little harder) [there are stairs up to the next level here]
- Entering this room the group saw glyphs runes on the far wall The glyphs, in Olman, read, "Beware... many-eyed god will bring down a fiery death."
- Then two “dead” but perfectly preserved humans laying on stone couches (one male & one female). Rhys touched the male (?) and both woke up very angry. They were able to speak an ancient version of common and told the group “You have broken our glorious sleep; for this you must atone”. They demanded 500 gold and a rare magic item of the group. Rhys told the pair that the group did not have the coin but he would give them these potions of levitate (all he had left) which should be worth much more. The pair agreed and let them pass.
- Leaving the room took them into a long hallway that went north, then west and ended with a giant stone blocking the path. Savane used a charge of stone shape from the bracelet to get through the blockage. Peering through they found that the north way was a sloping hall going up that had rollers embedded into the floor every few feet but south way was a plain hall with bronze doors.
- No matter how hard they tried our heroes could not budge the doors into this chamber so Savane cast stone shape again and it was discovered that the doors were barred from the inside. It was obvious that this room was some sort of a tomb, as it was filled with damaged clay warriors and an “honor guard” near a cairn at the top of the room. Rhys started to right the figures as best as he could with the others helping. While engaged in that Vasta found a huge quantity of beads and tiny shells on the floor and was able to scoop up many of them (1000 worth 1 cp. Ea)
- This alcove just said “obvious trap obviously” as it was a 30 ft. long hall with a raised platform at the end. On the platform was sitting a beautiful silver box.
- Vasta was able to find and deactivate the trap and the group was rewarded with the box and it’s contents. At this point they went back through the secret door into area 15
- They continued through the flooded hall and into the nereid’s area again. The nereid attacked from the water again and was able to remain invisible, so our group had no idea what was going on… they were able to escape with their lives and limp on taking the west exit from the chamber this time.
- At the end of the corridor was a choice of north or south and the group chose south. This led them to what was the back of a secret door, the way to open it very visible. Once opening the door they found the way blocked by a free standing 12 foot tall statue that was in front of it. It was some work to push the statue over so the group could pass but they managed it. They were able to retrieve a small amount of treasure from the broken statue.
- This room is a muddy mess, with about 1 ½ inches of mud and water on the floor . There are many overturned pedestals littering the floor with 1 intact, and perched on it is a small silver pyramid.
- Rhys offers to get on his hands and knees and ferry the ladies across the room, which Savane and Poppy agree to, while Vasta decides to pick up the pyramid. This area leads to the Crayfish room and they wave to the creature as they pass by.
- Once the huge stone entrance block was stone shaped the group found themselves in an antechamber. On the far wall, above decorated bronze doors were more glowing glyphs. which translated as "Here lies Tloques-Popolocas, master of the others, who is like the wind and the night!" The door was hard to pick but Vasta managed it. The doors opened into a tomb with a huge stone casket near the back. Engraved on the floor in front of the casket were glyphs that translate as "Ah, defilers! Now you shall join me in my eternal resting!"
- behind the stone casket an axe is embedded into the wall about 6 ft from the floor. There seems to be a shadow arm and hand on the wall as if the axe had cut the arm from some creature.
- The group noped out of this room entirely and went to rest.
- Area 1 to long rest (taking 8 poison damage each from the gas)
- As they returned to the first area they discovered that the bird people had tried to rescue them. The hole was now blocked and there were 5 or 6 of them half buried in the rubble.
- That leaves only area 11/12 to be explored on this level.
