Session #33 - Siege of the Temple Tower Report

General Summary

After many months of walking past the catapult at the Moathouse, An Adventuring Guild decided to put it to good use. In a plan to weaken the Greater Temple, the Guild brought the catapult and the ballista wagon to the Temple where they laid siege to a partially destroyed tower. The Guild knew that there were members of the Greater Temple inside the tower because of intel from both Otis and John.  The Guild opened up with a strike from the catapult. They then positioned themselves to attack any members of the Greater Temple that they could find. A small force appeared from the tower to attempt a sortie but were immediately demolished by ballista fire and a well-placed Entangle spell. Surviving Temple members retreated inside. After some time, a hole was broken into the tower. This led to some members entering into the tower and realizing that a greater force was waiting for them inside. The party retreated a bit and decided to just wreck the tower with the catapult. Sir Rob and his trusty henchman Ralph decided to step off to the side of the tower while the catapult flung rocks at it. This unfortunately led to the death of Ralph and the almost death of Sir Rob.  After spending some time attacking the tower the party decided to investigate it again. Upon closer look all of the enemies inside were no longer there leaving the guild to believe that there was an escape hatch! Not willing to stay long, a couple of members ran inside to see if they could leave with some loot. Garret and Delvin found an iron chest which they promptly grabbed without checking for traps. The chest then shot out a deadly needle which almost killed them both! Luckily the needle was not strong enough and the guild recovered the box and brought it back to the Moathouse. Inside the chest was a large number of coins!  The mission was mostly a success. The Guild captured two Greater Temple members and attained a decent amount of gold, but it was bought at the cost of a loyal henchman and a hireling.

Notes

The tower needs to be further explored. There are more rooms and more contents that could be looted and a potential escape route. Where does the escape route lead?
