Session 57: Enter Keraptis Report

General Summary

Virion cries "Luz!" and the Sunblade ignites into the ooze. He slashes into it, the singed ooze smelling awful. Following this attack Mystan casts Sacred Flame, burning into it. Seklyn then looses two arrows at the pudding. The pudding slaps Virion with a psuedopod, melting his crop top off. Finally, Bubbles--who was trying to find a suitable weapon after Virion said that the acid sword wouldn't work--killed it with three rapier stabs.

Seklyn pulls out his Tankard of Plenty, says "Heal" in draconic, and hands it to Virion. "This will help."

"Thank you."

"It's not alcohol."

"Aw."

Virion drinks it anyways, healing from the potion.

Bubbles pops in the pit of water. The rest jump over it or otherwise navigate through the water.

They reach the copper plate corridor, and through Virion's intellect--and Seklyn's poking things--they realize it's electrified.

The party resolves to put all their metal armor, weapons, supplies, and jewlery into the bag of holding. It takes five minutes to doff Mystan's armor with Virion's help. Seklyn didn't put her hook in the bag of holding and it melted through the rope at the last minute. He is going to have to cool it. It takes another several minutes to get all the armor and weapons put back on. They ponder over who set up the trap and if any weapons are through here. Mystan has Duskcrusher out and lit. With it, he sees the rusty blades at the bottom of the first pit in the next room.

Bubbles uses their Grey Bag of Tricks to test out the silvery area. A furry ball soars over the air, turns into a weasel, sildes along the frictionless area, falls into the other pit, and dies.

Selina shoots an arrow with a rope attached to the far wall, but it seems to go through the wall. Virion jumps across, slides, casts Misty Step, but it fails. He falls into the pit, contracting super tetnaus. Mystan casts Summon Celestial, summoning right above Virion. It picks him up and sets him down. The celestial heals Virion of the damage, but not the disease. Mystan heals Virion of his disease, and the others are ferried across by the clestial. Mystan restores more of Virion's HP. They go north to the floating stream room.

Bubbles scouts ahead and finds nine heavily armed and armored people in the next room. They have nets, looks to be ex-Raanite Brotherhood guys. All human. The party comes up with a plan; they put a bunch of alcohol on a kayak and set it on fire as it goes downstream. Then, the party will walk upstream to surprise them. However, they fuck up the timing and the flaming boat is heading right at them! Bubbles drops Virion and grabs the boat. Virion and Selina are going with the current to get the drop on the baddies. Mystan, though, recognizes Sir Bluto as the theif of Whelm and the perpetrator of the River of Blood Mass Murder case. Mystan knows he is wanted for 10,000gp. He casts Sunbeam out of Duskcrusher. They retrea, and Virion casts Fireball.

The knights scatter at Bluto's command and start giving one another leadership die. They try to stab and shoot at Virion but miss, and another gets drawn into the water with Bubbles and the boat. Seklyn reaches out and uses unarmed strikes to hit him once, missing twice. Bluto casts Branding Smite and stabs at Selina with his glave, striking and smiting her. He attacks again, missing, and strikes with a third attack. Virion steps out of the stream and casts Fireball again, killing two knights. Bubbles uses their Javelin of Lightning, hurling it at a knight, hitting a knight, Bluto, and Selina in the process. The knight dies, with Bluto and Seklyn injured. Bubbles then stabs the knight with their acid sword, and he dies. Bubbles then gets out of the water and attacks another knight, but the sword is deflected off of ther breastplate. Mystan avoids the flaming boat and steps out. He pulls out Whelm, and says "Bluto! Looking for this?"

"It belongs to us by Birthright!"

Mystan uses another beam from Sunbeam, to his face.

Bluto recovers, "Mystan, you can join me. Long before our people followed Raan, before they fled West, we were from a great Empire. The same Empire Keraptis hailed from. That hammer once belonged to him, you could join us. Join me, and no longer would we have to deal with this empire, no longer would you have to work with that Knife-Ear."

"I actually like him."

"Don't tell me the rumors are true, are you fond of him."

"You know I can not hate someone without loving them, right?" Mystan then casts Spiritual Weapon and slashes at Bluto.

The knights support one another and miss Virion and Bubbles. Selina punches Sir Bluto twice, and misses a third time but uses Focused Aim to hit Bluto! Bluto is then stunned! Seklyn whispers "No one calls him knife-ears".

Virion gives one of the knights the option to surrender or retreat, with the implication that retreating foes will be pursued. The knight chooses surrender.

Virion then casts Firebolt, missing another knight. Bubbles makes two of the other knights to surrender. Bubbles takes a flintlock pistol. They then learn of a secret door in the wall. Mystan, recalling the horrific human sacrifice of the River of Blood massacre, uses spiritual weapon again. Mystan approaches, puts his hand with the glowing mote over his heart, and says "Bluto San Pite, it's time you face the punishment for what you did." Sunbeam.

Bluto Sans Pite falls dead.

The party loots all the knights' armor and weapons, including their bullets, and Bluto's bag of holding and magic boots. They also get a key. And Bluto's body. And Virion finds a Sending Stone in Bluto's bag of holding. They intimidate a knight into revealing it communicates with M, a necromancer. One of them goes with the party to guide them through the dungeon, and the other two are tied up (DC 24, nat 20). They reveal that the four ships brought hundreds of members of the Brotherhood here, and many tied navigating this dungeon due to monsters Keraptis left and the Duergar's forces.

The knight draws them a rough map of the rest of the dungeon. The group then enter the terraced aquarium, and see the menagerie of monsters. The manitcores ready their spikes....
