Session 22: Reconnaissance Report

General Summary

Party meets with council and get their mission and objectives. There's a linguistics debate and they prep to leave on the 21st.

The water breathing potions suck, and they decide to go down to the underwater entrance. They drop to the north side and swim/sink. They use Pass Without Trace, Freedom of Movement, and Enhance Ability to aid their movement. They enter into a side entrance.

They find a cell with a dead eel within, it's horrifying. Beyond is Borgas being tortured. Bubbles flies into combat, and Virion casts Sleep. It is not effective. Only for Oceanus to reveal he was a Malenti the entire time!

Mystan casts Spiritual Weapon at fourth level and attacks Oceanus, then uses Toll The Dead to knock him unconsious (he gets a minor scar). A Sahuagin grabs Oceanus and flees. The other two try to engage Mystan and Bubbles, but miss. Virion then casts Lightning Bolt, but it conducts through the salt water and hits some allies. Uk-thin's battlefist injures one of the Sea Devils, and then Mystan casts Control Water to pull the Sea Devil and Oceanus back into the room. Bubbles stabs at a Sea Devil twice and they retaliate in kind. Another stabs Mystan, and the third swims over them and tries to get to the door.

Virion retaliates with five Magic Missle bolts to the fleeing Sahuagin. Uk-thin battlefists the Sahuagin, bringing him even lower. Mystan uses Enervating Breath and Spiritual Weapon -- the latter of which slices the Sahuagin into ribbons.

Bubbles stabs a Sea Devil and misses the other with their Javelin. The Sahuagin retaliates with more stabbing. Another Sea Devil attacks Uk-Thin in the tunnel, while Virion comes up and flanks him. Uk-thin casts Catapult, but misses. Mystan uses Spiritual Weapon and a warhammer to attack the remaining Sea Devil in the room. Bubbles picks up their sword and stabs at the Sea Devil, and then stabs again with the divine guidance of Mystan -- but the Sea Devil retaliates with two stabs, one of which is crit and gives Bubbles a Horrible Scar, they then stab Mystan. The Sea Devil then Overruns Uk-thin, who misses their opportunity attack -- but Virion hits and gives them a crit (minor scar). Virion hits the escapee with Magic Missle at 3rd level, the five bolts of force bursting out and whirling into the Sahuagin, a shattering crunch of bone killing him.

Uk-thin uses Catapult to launch a sharp piece of tile at the last Sea Devil, cutting through his neck.

Healing Word gets Bubbles up, and the group takes the Locatha, a freed Kysh and his mount, and the very dead Oceanus up to the surface.
