Elixir Awry
General Summary
Players: Lee as Knob the Salamander Emma as Burt Bell Knob and Burt both were scouted by Professor Cabral to be the least affiliated and hopefully most discrete to find the missing Breno. They quickly found the ratified Breno, learned of his plight, and vowed to find an antidote. They listened to Annette the glass-container-broker by the Outskirts Markets, after shopping for a carved bear at enormous prices at Bolora’s whittling workshop. They then went to the Alchemist, promising to not directly involve Annette (one Burt almost breaks). There they meet Reneé and their co-worker, standing guard for the Alchemist in the sewers of the Coward’s Cuesta. With some very persuasive motions, Burt got them in, while Knob managed to assert that guardsmen would have to announce their affiliations. Inside they found the Alchemist, who, while irritated with visitors, were intrigued by their predicament, refusing that it could be his concoction that shifted Breno. He offered to help for two hundred gold pieces, something the party had yet to gain. Instead, Burt offered a small carved bear cub, presented as a masterwork trinket. This were proven when a combination of illusions from both adventurers made it lip-sync to a poppy version of the Swift One’s ‘’22’’. Before the Alchemist managed to see through the illusions, the party managed to turn Breno back, promise to not involve the Alchemist either, and leave with the same coin they came with. They got past Reneé, and on the way back made an account about freeing Breno from bandits, fighting side by side to drive the kidnappers off a cliff. They also gave Breno some sage advice on how to pursue his own dreams and to find better things in his life. Back at the manor, they got paid for their trouble, subtly ousted Cabral as a hack to him and his student and witnessed a parent-and-child moment. In an epilogue, Burt plays the drums in the Ursa Major Bar, sporting a large carved bear, with illusory glitter. Knob sips his liquor in the corner, while plotting new detective cases and the potential of buying a deerstalker with matching spectacles for long range vision.
