Pre-Campaign:
There were two main groups within the church; one group worshipped the Lord of Light in all his radiant glory, and the other worshipped the Lady of Night in all her silent beauty. For the longest time, the two groups tolerated each other’s existence, but kept to themselves. However, conspirators within the Light group began spreading whispers among colleagues laced with nefarious rumours of heresy directed towards those of the Night group. These eventually whispers spread and grew into a roar, as accusations of secretive demon-fellowship were thrown at the Night group, stating that those who hide from the Lord’s sun are evil at heart. Though these accusations were challenged, rumours against the Night group spread faster than they could react and, before they knew it, debates quickly turned into violence as the powder keg ignited. What started as a schism shifted into a holy war, and although the Night group and their supporters fought for their innocence they were simply out-numbered and out-matched. Once the dust settled, the victors forced the Night group deep into a gargantuan forest, where the massive trees tower over the landscape and blanket it in a perpetual twilight, illuminated only by its exotic flora. The victors then set up checkpoints and perimeters around the forest to ensure that no unchecked heresy leaves to taint their lands.
THE NOW:
Almost a century has passed since the ‘Light’s Quelling’, and tensions have been steadily growing over the decades as unrest builds.
Recently, a group of powerful assassins infiltrated a former Night group city and brought down its occupiers, including the Archangel of Conquest and her sworn champion. This heavy blow to the Light group, now known as the Lord’s Chosen, stands as both a warning of what’s to come, and a reason to stamp down harder than ever. The party will consist of ordinary citizens of many backgrounds who dwell within the Twilight Lands who will come to witness the growing wrath that gets indiscriminately thrown down by the Lord’s Chosen, whether they wanted it or not. What comes next is up to them.
