Session 88: Forests & Flight

General Summary

In the evening Micah and Osdra Dai arrived in the small town of Jeredin. According to a posting in Merchevo, the hamlet had suffered some recent setbacks. The pair set out into the forest, aided by Bearton, to determine whether the origin was dangerous lycans or aggressive lichens. Deep in the woods they came across an unsettling individual calling himself Isevath. Accompanied by two others, Isevath quickly revealed his true nature—transforming into a strange abomination and attacking Micah and his companion. The pair dispatched Isevath, whose companions fled deeper into the forest.   Micah spotted a clearing which attempting to locate the trail out of the woods. Upon further investigation the two discovered an unsettling and abandoned village. The homes bore no signs of life—merely a thick layer of dust over the rotting remains of abandoned meals and property. Taking this as a sign, Micah and Osdra quickly left for Jeredin.   Back in the hamlet, Micah assured the alderman that the danger had been neutralized for the time being, but that the greater threat lay with the encroaching Wending Wood. Florian was distraught, but pulled the town together to break the news. A rousing speech from Micah rallied spirits and soon the citizens of Jeredin were on the move to Merchevo.   Meanwhile, Bart and Chari visited Melora’s Refuge hoping to gain some insight into the strange talisman found in the scarecrows outside town. Kesmon, one of the denizens of the Refuge, explained that the symbol was old and often used by more fanatic of Meloran followers. The pair invited Kesmon to join the Dragon Punchers as they investigated the strange energies in the forest outside of town.   In the morning, Bart, Jinn (disguised as the vampire hunter Amadine), Chari, and Kesmon encountered Micah leading a caravan of Jeredin refugees towards Merchevo. Upon hearing the promises Micah had made to the townsfolk of Jeredin, the group postponed their venture into the woods. Osdra would house the refugees in her magic mansion until such time as Bart could smooth things over in the city.   During the course of conversation Bart noticed that Osdra did not appear well. The goliath seemed sluggish, sore, and small patches of skin had begun to flake off. None of the paladin’s healing magic seemed to have any effect. She would need to remain quarantined in her mansion as well until the group could find a remedy.
