Beneath Shrouding Boughs

A group of intrepid adventurers reach the shores of Valthassòra at the behest of their patron, the Esteemed Chancellor Cormelgo di Verparoit of Montequillain, minister of affairs of the "Ermothine Sea Coalition". The Coalition has been trying to explore, tame and populate the wilderness of Valthassòra for the past eighty years, but to no avail. The land is vast, not easily traversible and filled with all manner of beasts and perils, which has made settling in the region and capitalising on its natural resources to be a slow and arduous task.   The esteemed chancellor has employed our heroes to succeed where others before them have failed. He has tasked them with conducting an investigation in the untamed interior of the continent, where an expedition of settlers recently went missing, as well as unearthing a valuable item crafted by a long-lost civilisation who once inhabited those lands, hidden somewhere deep in the wilderness of Valthassora, and retrieving said artifact on behalf of the Ermothine Sea Coalition.
