Session 2 Report

General Summary

The party wakes up after the night in the forest and sets off northeast along the river. Not long after setting off, they run into a young female half-elf named Katerina who tells them she was sent by Duke Gorwin to help 2 humans, a hobgoblin, and a vulpine in dealing with any troubles they have with the natives of the region. They reluctantly agree to let her join and head off. After almost a full day's travel, they decide to stop at a small village for the night. The next day, Goodman asks the bartender if anyone around would be willing to sell a winter coat, and she points to a guy sitting somber at a table. Goodman approaches the man and asks what his troubles are. The man tells him his brother was killed on his farm the day prior by bandits. Goodman offers to take out the bandits for the guy, who tells him he has no money to offer, and Goodman counters that a winter coat would be all he asks for. The man agrees and gives him the winter coat from his deceased brother, then tells him of where he found a recent camp that the bandits were seen using. Goodman tells the rest of the party about the deal and they agree to head into the forest to this bandit camp. After an hour of exploring, they eventually comes on the area that was described to Goodman. They see signs of recent activity and find tracks that they follow for the whole day until they run off course and end up back at Rona.
  They abandon their tracking and head east into a new town. There, Rike splits from the others to go steal from the rich district of the town. After he gets there, he begins sneaking around and is immediately stopped in his tracks when two arrows barely miss his face. Two bandits appear in an alleyway and Rike immediately throws a smoke stick in front of them. He then pounces through the smoke and realises both of the bandits are missing. Looking up, he finds both bandits climbing up the walls of the alley onto the roofs. He takes out and fires his bow at one of them, hitting them and making them fall to the ground next to him. He begins climbing to chase after the other one. Once he gets to the top, an arrow from the bandit on the ground barely misses him. Rike gets onto the roof and sees the other bandit running. He takes a shot and hits them in the shoulder, where they then hop off of the roof. Rike follows and sees the bandit go into a building, so he breaks off pursuit and goes back to the alley he was attacked from to find the other bandit missing. hearing explosions from the other side of town, he immediately begins running for the source.
  On the other side of town, the others also get ambushed by bandits. Two archers appear on the roofs behind them and three swordsmen come out onto the road to engage them. Goodman charges forward and kills one of the swordsmen outright. Centurion begins firing back and forth with one of the archers. Grugrat throws a bomb and blows up the wall of a nearby building after missing one of the archers, then he charges and engages in melee alongside Goodman. Katerina summons an eagle to harass the other archer, and eventually knocks him off the roof to where the swordsmen are. Goodman quickly dispatches the remaining swordsmen and the fallen archer. The last archer makes a run for it and Grugrat throws a bomb at him as he runs, but he misses and blows up the roof of another building.
  As the battle settles, shouting can be heard from the distance and people can be heard moaning in pain inside the damaged buildings. Katerina and Grugrat immediately begin helping people out of the buildings as guards rush forward from all sides. They demand to know what happened and hold the party as sword point. Several guards move Katerina and Grugrat away from the building and begin helping the people themselves. The party explains that they were ambushed and attacked by bandits. At this time, Rike arrives to the scene, sneaking along the rooftop. As he gets to a spot over looking the party, he begins watching what's going on. Two archers come up behind him without him knowing and aim at him, telling him to put his hands up. Instead, he tries to dart away and ends up taking one of the arrows into the back of his head, knocking him unconscious and falling to the ground below. The party admits he's with them and they take him to the doctor under guard while the rest of the party is taken to the guardhouse and put in a jail cell for the night.
