Session I : First Mark Report

General Summary

Our story begins in New Avalon, the city at the center of the world, Once the Fae capitol now the core metropolis of all living beings across Braak. The night sky is overcast as the clouds of winter are upon the world, letting snow fall in silence to the ground below. Fireworks are going off in the sky, sending colors of all types to dance and scatter as bands play various music all throughout the streets and people dance and drink in celebration. Its founders day, the day the city was declaimed anew after the attack of the Calamity 300 years ago.   Moving to the Nobles District we descend into the city proper into a small ally just off of one of the main roads. Here in the shadows of two large builds we find our group of rogues, the River Kings. Sigfried a Human monk with his white tiger Claus, Scuttle the Ratfolk alchemist, Wren the human Enforcer, Fin the Kobold Rogue and Jun the Half-Drow mage. A mutual friend, Rook, has asked them to steal a research paper that one Wilks Tilmon a Wizard of the Grand Academy is working on as well as the supply of Pixie Power he has for said research. The stash in question is within one of the Apartments for the Academy, which is currently deep within celebration.   After quick search of the exterior of the buildings, Fin explains that the walls are trapped to go smooth if anyone tries to climb them. Seeing if there is a back door, the party splits up. Jun thru the front, Sigfried Wren Fin and Claus thru the back, and Scuttle disappears before anyone can catch him for 'Plan C'. Finding the backdoor on the second story, Wren gives Fin a boost up to the lock and it is quickly dealt with just as the door flies open and two students burst out into the back ally, one transfigured into a minotaur, hit the far wall and knock unconscious. with the door opening, the stairs are now accessible and the party get inside. Jun makes quick work of blending into the drunk wizards and walks thru the front door without a single issue. After a brief questioning of some of the students, the party proceeds thru the 'elevators', chimneys, to the 5th floor where Wilks room 503 is. On their way to the room, the party finds an unconscious Transmutation wizard with his key in the lock, so take the opportunity to grab some extra gold on the job. Stealing his school books, wizard focus(an opal) and his Spellbook. Finding and quickly opening Wilks room the party beings the search for the Paper and the Powder. Finding the room empty, the party do find the paper and powder as well as some more school books, Wilks Spellbook and a black jewelry case and black ledger.   At that moment 'Plan C' takes effect, as the party all hear a soft boom outside. Scuttle becoming bored had been eyeing a large stash of fireworks that many of the Wizards were guarding. Covering them in oil and dropping an explosive from above he set the whole pile ablaze.   Thinking quickly, the party packed up and headed out the room to now escape. Wren breaking the window at the end of the hall jumped out, Jun following close behind. This setting the alarm off. Fin, Sigfried and Claus head back down thru the Chimneys with Fin yelling "Thief's! Thief's on the top floor!". This information was taken in by the drunk wizards and then spouted back to the Golden guards who were coming in to try and find the robbers, told that the top floor was the twelfth and they ran off. After which Fin gets the drunk wizards to leave the building as it is dangerous, passaging a diplomacy check and the drunk hoard runs out the back door, the same one the party had entered from.     Returning to Rook, they handed over the papers and the powder, in exchange they were given a Deed and a Key.  A small 40' x 40' one story building, which was now the partys first home base.  With most everything else being fenced off for some extra cash the party ended the long evening with going to bed.  Some at HQ some at inns throughout the city.
