Session Three: Dewhurst Forest Report
General Summary
Our session opened on Faelyn reading the journal she found at the logging camp to our party, which contained a two week account from a logger and his budding relationship with someone named Tris. Based on the account, Jacob was able to deduce that this Tris was a Dryad, a fae creature closely tied to great trees and the forests. The party then followed the footprints leading into the forest with the hopes of finding this Dryad. Juriat realized that they were being followed by a not so sneaky young man named Ewyn, the missing logger and author of the journal. After some convincing, they were able to convince Ewyn that they meant no harm to Tris and that they needed to speak with her. Ewyn lead the party to a large clearing with a great tree in the center. Jacob noticed that in the branches was the Statue of Wuking they were looking for. Tris showed herself at the behest of Ewyn and agreed to speak to the party. Negotiations for the statue began, and got a little heated at times, before Tris was convinced to hand over the statue with the promise that Guy Heardman would be convinced to persuade farming rather than logging for the economy of Dewhurst and that Jacob would try to get his grandfather's connections to patrol the forest. Still, she offered to reward them with what trinkets were left behind in the forest from fallen travelers if the party were able to take care of the goblins that were reeking havoc and killing local wildlife just to the north. The party found the cave, albeit not quietly, and a small goblin hunting party were waiting for them. The party was able to take down the group with little trouble, Reed taking the brunt of the damage. Instead of tending to his wounds first, he healed Juriat and overexerted himself. During the battle Esteem also lost control of her magic and begun to shine like the sun. In the cave, not much was to be found besides some fancy stones and animal hides. Jacob also found a skull of a wolf, Faelyn decided to take the head of the goblin she killed as a trophy, and Juriat took the head of a goblin that was beheaded in combat as evidence for Tris that the threat was dealt with. The party decided since it was getting late into the day that this was a good time to rest for the evening.
