Session 14

General Summary

The Cabal met with Ferrum and his Cabal (The Knights of the Exalted Gryphon) a little past midnight to give him a personal item of Cieri's (his toothbrush). Ferrum expressed his disappointment in Plural but also admitted that he should not have trusted him with this task. He said that they would take it from there and that the Cabal should no longer concern themselves with the Shinje.
After some divinations River discovered that the Shinje would find her soon, and the Cabal proceeded to return to their sanctum and prepare themselves for its arrival. However, the Shinje did not turn up, as the divination had predicted but instead the Shinje used Cieri's space magic to scry on the Cabal. Upon seeing that the Cabal was well prepared and waiting for it, the Shinje changed it's mind and did not attack the Cabal, thereby thwarting their plan.   With precious time wasted the Cabal headed to Boston to meet with Aurem, a mage that Ferrum had provided contact with in payment for Plural's assignment to meet with Khatvanga. The original purpose was to have this mage, Aurem, dispel the Oath that the Cabal had with Hydra, but since Plural had already become powerful enough to dispel it himself he instead asked Aurem to teach him the Celestial Fire Rote. During negotiations for this Rote, they were interrupted by another mage entering Aurem's office to tell him about some information she had found about a certain spirit that Ferrum was chasing. It turns out that the Shinje's purpose is to consume 3 mages in order to resurrect one of them in a younger body, and by providing it with an item with strong sympathetic connection to one of it's victims, it will ensure the resurrection of that victim.
Aurem seemed fascinated by the Shinje and it's powers and struck a deal with the Cabal, that if they provide him with a personal item of Cieri's, he will do what he can to try and get him back and in exchange Aurem will get the Shinje and teach Plural the Rote. After agreeing to this proposal and handing over their last sympathetic connection to Cieri, they realised through fate magic, that this was most likely a bad decision.   After discussing their options, they settled on two possible courses now: one is to find Ferrum again and convince him to give back Cieri's toothbrush and the other is meeting the Grey Pope, whom apparently also can help them (as learned through fate magic), but that this might come with problems...
