The Bloodmoot - Part 5 - Perceptions Report

General Summary

Setesh UttikalThe Bear-Downers climb out of the pit and approach Setesh Uttikal. He tells Zath what everyone witnessed during the fight. To the observers, the fight took place in the pit as normal....no teleportation, no chanting, no cave dragons.
The Bear-Downers show Aziz the Ancient and Setesh Uttikal the dwarven scabbard. They are both wary of anyone seeing the scabbard and decide to talk privately.
Skar has a dream that night of a strange Golden Chalice. It is massive and misshapen and appears to be about 2 feet high. In the dream the Golden Chalice has some kind of black or dark red liquid out of which emerges something of nightmare; A huge horror which resembles a bloated yellow-orange worm covered in thick chitin. At its upper end sits a powerful, scaly torso with enormous taloned arms. Three horned, reptilian heads leer and snap a good twenty-five feet above the ground. A damp, cloying muck fills the air around the creature. As you look up at this massive being in wonder and fear the three reptilian heads turn to gaze down at you. You see a glint of recognition in its eyes before it opens its massive maws, all three, and chomps down on your fragile human form consuming you in darkness.

The Bear-Downers replenishes their stock at Aziz's store inside the Inn. Aziz the Ancient offers Baelok a Bone Braced Longbow for 1500gp. Aziz agreed to hold it for a time so that Baelok can scrape together the funds to buy the Longbow.
Baelok sees a woman talking to Setesh Uttikal . She wears robes of a scholar or mage and walks with the bearing of a noble. Baelok approaches her and inquires as to what she is doing the House of the Fallen Star. A Quodethi sage, Tyarna has studied stories of the lost city of Kal-ne-Moz for years. When the story of Jodom reaches her, she realizes that the jungle trader found the lost city, which means that the legendary Scrolls of Moz might be within her reach. Tyarna wants to hire the bear downers to journey to Kal-Ne-Moz and bring back the Scrolls of Moz, offering to pay the party 1,000 gold pieces for the scrolls. She understands that the BloodMoot must be completed first and tells Baelok to contact her when they are ready.
Setesh Uttikal informs The Bear-Downers that all other competitors have dropped out of the Trial by Combat portion of the BloodMoot after they witnessed what happened to their last opponents. If there is no one to fight against in the final battle then a winner cannot be declared as per the BloodMoot Ritual. Setesh Uttikal has an idea to hire the Red Shield Company to fill in for the last battle. Their payment can be returning the dwarven scabbard. The Bear-Downers agree to the terms Setesh Uttikal describes.
At the meeting with Galith Stoneholm , the leader of the Red Shield Company dwarves in Quodeth , The Bear-Downers recount their experience of being transported to an unknown arena along with the battles and creatures they encountered. They tell Galith Stoneholm about finding the scabbard in the cave dragon nest. Galith Stoneholm asks them directly if there was anything else found. The Bear-Downers admit to finding the steel sword pieces as well. Galith Stoneholm is noticeably surprised and tells them that the weapons these pieces came from belonged to a party sent out by the ruling house of Kal-Zinan in search of the Eye of Braug. They never returned. Zath Sev told him that they didn't search the whole cave system. Hearing this Galith Stoneholm vowed to pay a fine reward if The Bear-Downers could get back to the Cave Dragon lair in order to search for more missing weapon pieces or clues to the fate of the dwarven party.
Galith Stoneholm then agrees to fight in the final battle of the BloodMoot . In return he only asks that the dwarven relics be returned. All agree and Setesh Uttikal holds onto the 3 pieces.
Once the final battle of the BloodMoot begins the two opponents start taking shots at each other. One stray chakram throw by Skar hits the meteorite in the center of the pit. it rings out like a bell and the sounds turn into a sonic attack knocking out both teams.
  Once The Bear-Downers regain consciousness:

You see a bright orange glow before you. Then it hits you...the searing heat all around you. The stifling hot air that you take in with every breath feels like a bellows blowing fire into your lungs. The floor is carved stone as are the walls. You can see cracks in the walls and floors where an eerie glow peaks through. Looking around you can see massive pools of lava lapping up against the floors and walls.

The Bear-Downers start to make their way forward when they notice creatures climbing out of the lava.
