Mysteries of the Fog Report
General Summary
Mary freed the party from their room and asked them to take her with them when they leave in exchange for some information. The party agreed and she told them about how the tavern owner disappeared into the store room for several hours before returning. The party investigated this room and discovered a secret door in one of the walls that hid a trapdoor in the floor into a subterranean passage. The party decided to head north along the passage. The party discovered the tome at the center of the underground lake. The tome rests on a pedestal that is a carving of some kind of aquatic creature holding the top of the pedestal up. The party examined the pedestal and found a large tome bound in damp leather. The tome hurt to look at. Tonan tried to read the first page and felt some small sense of sanity slip away from him as he tried but did not comprehend anything written in the unknown language. The party was able to hide back in the passage they came from when they saw some light coming from one of the other pasages. The party watched as three hooded figures dragged a fourth figure to the pedestal. Anderson was able to see that the person being dragged was Chief Wilkins. Unsure of what to do, the party watched as one of the robed figures withdrew a knife from the folds of their robe and raised it above their head to strike. It was at that moment that the party charged in to try and save the chief.
