Session 12: Terminus Station (Pt. VIII) Report

General Summary

After a restful night, the party decide that their immediate concern is the dragon and also Gal, who is with the dragon, so Misvari invites some coworkers to breakfast. They're served by a matronly halfling, Kesta. Breakfast is ordered, Kestra is hilarious, the sourdough starter is sentient, the donuts are atomic explosive, and Misvari is revealed as a vodka aunt.   "We definitely don't reanimate [dead bodies]" says Kriskain, rolling a critical failure on a Deception check. Mica sulks as Kestra subtly interrogates Kriskain on her quest and reveals tidbits of a Tragic Backstory and an affinity for poisons.   The party are joined by Frinan, Iriendel and Johny, two of Misvari's underlings and one of her peers (in order Frinan swoons at the mention of a dragon, while Johny remains fairly calm until it's revealed that Job's alive and back from the dragon's lair. Johny suggests moving the dragon to the lounge area and expresses interest in the magical nature of the hoard; xe suggests a two-pronged approach, with Johny, Frinan and Kriskain going to see Ilil Clearwater, the CO, and Misvari, Iriendel and Mica going to see Kathel Maley, the captain.   Kriskane explains the situation to Ilil while Misvari gets somewhat bitched out by Kathel, since Kathel does not trust Misvari for a minute; both officers are convinced to at least go down and speak to Job in the Now and Inn.   As Iriendel tells the XO to take command of the ship while Kathel deals with Whatever This Is, the rapidly expanding party descends to the Inn. The find Darrow in Job's rooms at the Now and Inn; he claims he was bring Job coffee, which is maybe a little suspicious given Job's a tea snob and all. Kriskain assumes Darrow and Job are romantically involved, because she's a straightforward kind of half-ord, and Darrow is temporarily rendered speechless; when he works out that she's sincere in her belief, he corrects her. The rooms are small, so everyone decides to use the *Doe back room for their Job interview.   On the way, Misvari makes several pointed comments at Darrow, which he (gently) hits her for; Mica works out that Job is wearing Darrow's hoodie, and then that this is a Sensitive Topic still (despite how their coworkers might act). Nonetheless, Misvari takes the opportunity to tell Darrow to get a goddamn move on.   Kestra greets everyone at the door and shows them to the back room, making some very overt comments until Mica manages to signal that maybe she Shouldn't. Kestra lets slip that she knows about the dragon; Kathel immediately blames Misvari. The propellers whir once again as Job recounts his experience. After Kathel has been convinced that Misvari's not up to anything, the party manage to glean the following:

  •  the hoard is made mostly of lost items which weren't magical when they arrived; the hoard itself is somehow en-magicking them.
  • Job's theory is that the hoard and the dragon are responsible for the glitchy transporter.
  • Johny suggests that the dragon's mutation is perhaps a result of the transporter.
  • Kriskane makes the remarkably pragmatic point that the dragon's accelerated growth might also mean a shorter lifespan; Ilil looks comforted by this fact.
Kestra, of course, eavesdrops on all of this, and also notes keenly that Darrow ordered Job's tea for him. She immediately starts planning an elaborate high tea date night for them in her head.   Everyone, commanding officers included, decide to speak to the dragon about this. On the walk, Mica talks to Ilil, suggesting that maybe he should sleep more, drink less coffee, and just generally chill out. He's snippy with her and looks nauseous at her offer of sleep magic, but she gets the sense that maybe she got through to him.   The party get to the basement without incident, ready to speak to the dragon.
