Session 1

General Summary

Belle, Mrek, Slint, and Cyras reach Volscia Mera and the Ruddy Fishwife tavern. There they meet Ludwig performing in an alley. Emblyn, Wenna and Branoc Nancarrow accost Cyras, but only because he is a fellow Midmarean, and they buy him a round of drinks. Zed Hancock, proprietor of the Ruddy Fishwife, dislikes Ludwig and is a bit racist to Mrek, but backs down quickly when intimidated. They get rooms at the Fishwife.   Exonian Merchant Marine Lieutenant John Scrivener rushes through the door in a panic: "The island is moving!" Belle calms him with a drink and he explains about the island. Emblyn says she and her siblings are going to the island, and invites Cyras along. The group follows Scrivener to his boat, rowed by Pip. The group convinces Scrivener to take them to the island to try to stop it.   On the way, they encounter the Exonian ship Truculent on fire; Cyras helps put the fire out with a ray of frost.   Next, a Dorian ship drops a net full of gunpowder barrels in their way. Ludwig blows it away with a thunderwave, but the gunpowder sparks and explodes, scorching the party and earning the wrath of the Dorian captain.   Finally they are blocked by Railsford, Scrivener's first lieutenant in the Daring, and a Quedran officer arguing and about to duel. Mrek knocks Railsford into the water with an infestation spell, cutting the duel short.   The party reaches the island with Emblyn, Wenna, and Branoc in tow. Scrivener and Pip stay with the boat. Mrek spots an airship coming, so they rush for the shelter of the church, but tentacles burst up from the ground before they can reach it.   They kill the tentacles outside the rectory. Belle and Cyras explore inside while the others speak with Gaius and Quintus from the airship. Slint gives Quintus a sample of tentacle goo from his face.   The buildings start to collapse from the constant earthquakes shaking the island. The elves head for the church. Slint and Mrek help the Nancarrows fight the tentacles and stirges in the garden, saving Wenna's life, and discover the half-petrified halfling priest. The party heads down into the root cellar and through the door into the statue hall...
