Session 4: Sloop Group - On to Tent City

General Summary

The party now headed on into the Outer Quarter on the trail of the missing residents.   Unfortunately some party members got a little sidetracked by a strange smelling Spa/Steam bath establishment from which a strange, sweet smell came but they did not tarry for long. However, next door was a small restaurant selling exotic sounding food such as Naga and Centaur! After a completely avoidable argument, fueled partially by Troll Piss Beer, over the bill and source of some of the ingredients with the proprietor, Mr Do, the guards were called. Testiclies, Willard and Zakila eventually left the restaurant a little worse off and worse for wear and certainly not welcome back there…..   Meanwhile Lady Cassandra was approached by a sad looking man who turned out to be Hanly Grouse, father of the missing girl Uelle. He explained what little he knew about her disappearance and gratefully accepted Cassandra's offer to help, she politely refused any financial offer that the poor man could make. Cassandra set off to Tent City believing this to be the source of the recent troubles. The rest of the party staggered off after her and they met on the edge of Tent City.       Tent City seemed to be an extremely cosmopolitan place, many different races, creeds and colours were gathered there and cohabiting peacefully. The party headed for Fort Rendezvous, the only proper structure in Tent City and the establishment of Colonel Portland, a jolly-looking, retired soldier. However, though jolly-looking, it was clear he was not fond of Half-Orcs and did not think it was worth making such a fuss over a few immigrants! They asked him about the missing residents and Colonel Portland gave some information, directing the party to speak to others in the Inn.
Willard sat down to talk to some green cloaked fellows who were in fact Dog Soldiers (the rag-tag local guards for Tent City). It was made clear from this conversation that not everyone liked the influx of foreigners from all over the Lost Lands who had taken up residence in Tent City since the Huun seige three years ago.   In the corner of the Inn an old beaded man smoked his long pipe and told stories to the gathered patrons about his adventures, this was Colonel York, format Lyreguard leader and hero during the defense against the Huun attack.
Colonel York was interested in any information concerning the kidnapped Tent City residents and was wiling to put up his own money as a reward for help with the emergency. A rumour was heard that no one had ever been taken from the Wanderers area of the settlement.   The party departed from the Inn and headed for the Wanderers area of Tent City. There they spoke to Mama Bobo, a Half-Orc fortune teller and leader of the Wanderers. She told the party that although no one had been taken directly from their settlement, one of their young men, Cornlieu, had vanished while visiting a friend in the north of the city. She directed them on to the leader of the Dog Soldiers known as the 'Bushway', Big Horn.   Willard headed to see Bighorn and Cassandra headed to the Blackfinger camp. This camp was well organised and the Blackfinger mercenaries were clearly well-drilled and professional. Blackfinger himself was dismissive of the aid Cassandra offered saying that they could managed perfectly well on their own. He did however let slip that they had had trouble tracking the 'ghosts' and that the tracks disappeared quickly after the kidnappings.   Bighorn was very unhappy about the Blackfinger Mercenaries moving in to take over the search and would be grateful for any help to prove that he and the Dog Soldiers could manage better without them!   As Tent City began to quieten down for the day, the party went to the site where the tracks had last been seen and prepared for a long wait through a damp, foggy and moonless night….
