Chapter Five

2298 1 0

The next day, at three in the afternoon, Cie has just finished changing into a silver two-piece dress, with black boots when there’s a knock at her door. She hasn’t left her room yet, opting to stay inside and listen to music, taking a rare nap.

“Yeah?” She calls and the door opens.

Agent O pokes his head inside.

“We’re going to pick up the final member of the three that you brought to Earth through your portal machine. From the hospital.” Agent O says and Cie nods.

“I’ll come with.”

“Then hurry up. We’re leaving in two minutes whether you’re in the suburban or not.”

“Harsh. I’m ready now.” Cie says as she unplugs her phone from where it’s charging on her desk, killing the rock music that was playing.

Agent O grunts and Cie rolls her eyes.

“What has got you in such a bad mood?” She asks as she follows Agent O down the stairs.

Nathan is waiting by the front door, wearing a green shirt that says, “My brain do be lagging”.

“Sleeping beauty arises from her slumber.” He teases.

“Hey, I’m not the one who sleeps approximately one-third of their life.” Cie retorts.

“I’ve had to listen to your annoying rock music all day. That’s why I’m in a bad mood.” Agent O snaps, ignoring Cie and Nathan’s small conversation.

“Oh, I’m sorry. Would you rather I blasted Nathan’s dubstep all day?” Cie replies sarcastically.

Agent O sighs but unlocks the front door. He walks outside into the sunny day, and Cie and Nathan follow him. Agent O locks the door once everyone is out, and unlocks the pink suburban using his key fob.

“I call the front seat.” Nathan says cheerily.

“Fine by me.” Cie says.

“Yes, well, I call the radio. I’ve heard enough rock music for a month.” Agent O says as he opens the driver’s door and climbs in.

“And I heard enough classical music in the lab I was kept in to last me a lifetime. Leave the radio off, or I might break it.” Cie warns.

Agent O mutters something under his breath that Cie can’t catch, and Nathan hops in the front passenger’s seat. Cie opens the back door, and plops down in the back seat behind Agent O. They all close their doors in unison, and then Agent O starts the suburban. He backs out of the driveway, and then they’re off for the hospital. They seem to hit every pothole in the small town they live in, jolting them as they drive at a leisurely pace. When they finally arrive and Agent O parks the suburban, Cie flings open her door. Agent O steps out of the car, calmly opening his door, while Nathan reaches into the back of the car, grabbing a full plastic bag, before he makes his exit. They shut their doors, and Cie glances at the plastic bag.

“What’s in the bag?” Cie asks.

“Clothes. We don’t know this woman, or what style or size of clothes she wears, so we just got a long, loose, white shirt, similar to Octavia’s dresses she wears. Since you know, she was bleeding out, her shirt got ruined. Hopefully her pants and shoes are okay still. A little blood on them shouldn’t be too big of a deal. But her shirt was covered in blood, so she can’t wear that around.” Agent O replies.

“Good thinking. When did you go shopping?” Cie asks and Agent O shrugs.

‘While you were sleeping.”

“Wow. You waited until the one day I actually slept to do something fun.”

“Shopping is not fun. It’s merely something to be endured.” Agent O retorts.

“Says the boring old man.” Cie says.

“Let’s just get this woman and get her to Agent B’s house.” Agent O sighs.

They silently walk into the hospital, and Agent O flashes his badge at the clerk, a short woman with black hair.

“We’re here to see the gunshot victim.”

“Which one?” The clerk asks, clearly way beyond the point of needing sleep.

“Which one? What do you mean which one? This is a tiny town! There is only one.” Agent O snaps.

The clerk yawns and taps into her computer.

“Hmm. Room 6A.” She says, and Agent O rolls his eyes.

“We’ll find it. Thank you very much.” He says, his voice dripping with disdain.

“Have a nice day.” Nathan says, waving back at the woman as they follow Agent O while he leads them down the hallway.

“You don’t have to be so rude to everyone, y’know.” Cie remarks and Agent O rolls his eyes.

“You’re one to talk.”

Cie shuts up and Agent O leads them down the hallway until they arrive at the room. Nathan knocks, but Agent O pushes the door open, not waiting for an answer. They find a tall female who glances over at them with pink eyes, sitting in a hospital bed, watching TV.

“Who are you?” She asks, her voice sweet like honey, but also strong and clear.

“Okay, so she’s not human.” Agent O remarks and Cie elbows him.

“You could at least say hello! Sorry about Mr. Grumpy here, I’m Cie Supernova, this is my adopted brother, Nathan Roger, and this is Agent O, our caretaker.” Cie says and the female stares at them in silence.

“What’s your name?” Nathan asks and the female frowns.

“Daisy Toronto.” The female says.

She is Black, with a white and blonde afro. She moves to get out of bed, wincing slightly as she shifts her injured shoulder. She lets her legs hang off the bed and the three are relieved to see she’s not just wearing a hospital gown, but also has on her skinny jeans and combat boots she arrived with in their world.

“They took my shirt, so now I’m stuck in this weird outfit. Do you have any clothes I could wear? I’m assuming you’ve come to explain where I am. Because this is not the planet I was shot on. I haven’t seen anything edible in days.”

Agent O hands Daisy the bag with the loose, long, white shirt in it. Daisy pulls out the shirt and studies it, silently critiquing it.

“Thank you.”

“This is the part where Cie explains how she has deeply messed up and how sorry she is for accidentally stealing you from your world.” Agent O says, his voice coming out casual and irritated as he glances at Cie.

“Yes, about that.” Cie says, scratching her neck awkwardly.

“I kind of built a portal machine. I had good intentions. I just wanted to leave Earth, but instead it brought you, Timmy, and Octagon here.” She says.

“Hmm. This place is called Earth? And who is this Timmy? And Octagon?”

“I’ll leave you to explain that. Nathan and I are going to wait outside so Miss Toronto here can change. Cie, help her change out of the gown so she doesn’t hurt her shoulder worse.”

Cie nods and Agent O and Nathan exit the hospital room. Daisy allows Cie to help her change into the long white shirt. Then Daisy stands to her feet.

“So, Earth? You don’t know what Earth is?” Cie asks as she leads Daisy over to the door.

“No. My world is named Mascri.”

“Well, Earth is the world you’re on now. I don’t think you’re human either. So, I’m obliged to ask for Agent O, what are you?”

“I’m a fleurian.”

Cie opens the door to the hallway where Agent O and Nathan are waiting.

“And what is a fleurian?” Cie asks.

“Um, what I am?” Daisy says, tilting her head to look at Cie.

“I dunno. I wasn’t rich enough to attend school. I don’t know the scientific explanation of us.”

Agent O frowns at the two females.

“Let’s get out of here. Agent B is expecting us soon.”

Cie and Daisy follow Agent O and Nathan out of the hospital while chatting together.

“So, what are you then? Are you human?” Daisy asks as they walk through the halls.

“No. I’m a Supernova. My adopted brother is half-Supernova, half-human. Agent O is a full-blooded old man human.”

Daisy nods as they exit the building and Agent O leads them over to his pink suburban.

“Daisy, you may sit in the front passenger’s seat- that’s on the right side of the car. Yes, there you go.” Agent O says as Daisy opens the driver’s door, and then follows Agent O’s instructions to go to the other side of the vehicle.

Once everyone is loaded up in the suburban, Agent O starts the vehicle. He drives out of the hospital parking lot, and then drives to Agent B’s house. As they pull up into the driveway, Agent O’s eyes narrow.

“Agent B doesn’t have a black van.” He mutters as he quickly exits the vehicle. Nathan and Cie exit as well, Cie shoots a nervous glance at the van.

Daisy feels under the dash for the object her knees had continually collided with during the brief drive over and gently pulls a pistol out of a holster attached to the bottom of the dash. She stands up and slips the pistol into her back pocket, as she exits the car. When she makes it inside the house behind Cie, she finds there’s a group of men wearing all black who have Agent B, Mag, Timothy, and Octavia tied up in the middle of the room. The men have large shotguns out, and one of the shotguns is pointed at the tied-up group.

“Close the door behind you, doll?” One of the men grins and Daisy glances at Agent O who nods.

Daisy closes the door, and then while the men start searching Agent O, she whips out the pistol. She shoots rapid-fire, eight shots ring out all rapidly from her pistol. Each of the men go down screaming in agony and clutching at their left shoulders. Daisy hands the gun to Agent O.

“What. Was. That.” Agent O gasps and Cie stares wide eyed at Daisy.

“I think Miss Toronto found the gun you leave in the suburban in case of emergencies.” She whispers.

Cie pulls Daisy into a hug, while Nathan stares at them.

“How is it possible to be so accurate with your shots?” He asks, his voice coming out as a murmur.

“Do you mind untying us while you interrogate our sharpshooter friend?” Agent B asks and Agent O starts.

“Sorry!” He exclaims as he quickly runs off to the kitchen to get a knife to cut the ropes. Meanwhile, Cie whips out her phone.

“Do I call the police about this? Or the government?” She asks, her tone serious.

“I’m sure the neighbors have already called the police. Call the government.” Agent B replies, her voice calm, despite a nasty bruise on her cheek.

While Cie calls the number she has for the higher up agents, Nathan sits on the couch. Daisy sits beside him. They watch as Agent O cuts the ropes trapping the residents of the house.

“So, um, how did you shoot so fast and accurately?” Nathan asks and Daisy looks at him.

“My family taught me.”
