Arbri

Within the forests and swamps of the world reside the Arbri, the Woodfolk, protectors and guides of all the trees and woods. The Arbri are a secluded people, but are actually quite welcoming hosts to those that find their ways into their lands- so long as their guests mean no harm.
ability score increase: When determining your character’s ability scores, increase one of those scores by 2 and a different score by 1, or increase three different scores by 1.
age: Arbri age at a slow pace, reaching adulthood around age 55. By all known accounts, there is no upward age limit to the Arbri. However, after roughly 400 years, the Arbri tend to have difficulty regaining their mobility after rooting. After about 1,000 years, an Arbrel will have metamorphosed into an Elder Tree, the stationary end-life stage of all Woodfolk.
alignment: Arbri are as unique in alignment as they are as a people.
Size: Medium
speed: Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Languages: You can read, speak, and write Common and Sylvan.
race features:
Bark-like. You have a thick layer of bark-like skin. You have a +2 bonus to your armor class.   Forest Folk. You can understand the general feelings of plant life, without the need to speak or hear them. You can easily tell if the plants around you are angry, afraid, sad, excited, etc, whenever you are within 40 feet of them. You have no ability to communicate with them, and they cannot speak to you. This feature is not affected by blindness, deafness, or the effects of the Silence spell.   Rooting. When sleeping, Arbri root themselves into the ground around them. When rooted, you only require 4 hours of rest and sleep to gain the benefits of a Long Rest. When you wake up while rooted, your movement speed is reduced to zero for one minute while your roots retract. You can extend your roots up to 15 feet from you in order to properly take root. If you are unable to root when sleeping, such as in a high tower or aboard a ship, you are unable to dream or receive visions during your sleep, and must take the standard 8 hours to gain the benefits of a Long Rest.   Woodfolk. When amongst forest life, the Arbri can stand near perfectly still, feigning the appearance of a tree. When you are attempting to hide in a place such as a forest or swamp, you can make a Deception check instead of a Stealth check if you are not moving.
The Arbri vary in appearance as widely as the trees themselves. Their bodies are covered by a dense, woody exterior topped with barks similar to their respective kin-trees. Eye color varies greatly, but the most common color is a bright amber. Some Arbri allow mosses to grow naturally from their heads and faces, often resembling beards and hair. Arbri are, as a rule, moderately taller than humans, standing around six-and-a-half feet tall, though rarely more than seven feet tall. The Arbri are quite heavy, easily weighing triple that of a similarly sized human.
