The cambion, cursed at birth to bear the marks of the demon-kissed. Their monstrous appearance frightens most and so they are a secluded sort. Most are killed when they are young but some survive. Those who do are most often the strongest amongst all of them, be they good or evil.
Appearance of the Cambion:
Cambions are born of unnaturally pale white hair and skin, with piercing red eyes and beady black pupils. Their teeth are often lightly yellowed and sharp. Aside from these startling differences, they look as any wight would.
History of the Cambion:
Cambion history is uncertain, but it is believed by wights that when a woman has been unfaithful she sometimes bears a cambion child. Cambions are commonly linked to demons, with some theories suggesting their souls were corrupted by a demon's kiss before birth.
Cambion Curse:
The curse, also called Demon's Kiss, causes cambions to experience severe to mild light sensitivity, as well as very sun-sensitive skin and other possible symptoms such as extreme near- or far-sightedness, poor depth perception and even complete blindness. Beside its cursed nature, it does oddly grants the afflicted a natural affinity to all types of thaumaturgy.
Society of the Cambion:
Cambions are commonly mistrusted and even hated. They are believed to bring bad luck upon the people and the land. Therefore, most cambions are killed at birth and at times, their mothers as well. It is believed amongst cambions that there was a haven city raised by the cambion folk. It has never been found. Due to their persecution, most cambions are pushed into illegal work to survive, of those that do survive. The reality of it is that cambions are with far too few to ever stand up to the oppression they suffer.
Names of the Cambion:
Cambions are in their core wights and are born amongst them, so take over the naming conventions of the wights, however, they are predisposed towards names that signify their curse, some examples: Creature, Hex, Rat, Sickly, etc.
Rarer names, which are either ironic or in protest of their mistreatment: Lucky, Sweets, Angel, Honey, etc.
Age of the Cambion:
Cambions reach adulthood in their late teens and naturally live to a bit over a century.
Alignment of the Cambion:
Cambions, due to their frequent mistreatment, often lean towards the cruel but some overcome this. As the law is often the reason for their deaths, they're more often than not chaotic by nature. Although, perhaps some would feel order and law was necessary to ever overcome the prejudices they face.
