Natural Armor: You have tough, scaly skin. When you aren't wearing armor, your AC is 11 + your Dexterity modifier. You can use your natural armor to determine your AC if the armor you wear would leave you with a lower AC. A shield's benefits apply as normal while you use your natural armor.   Bite: Your fanged maw is a natural weapon, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with it, you deal piercing damage equal to 1d4 + your dexterity modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.   Superior Darkvision: You can see in dim light within 120 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.   Sunlight Sensitivity: You have disadvantage on attack rolls and on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight when you, the target of your attack, or whatever you are trying to perceive is in direct sunlight.   Pack Tactics: You have advantage on an attack roll against a creature if at least one of your allies is within 5 feet of the creature and the ally isn't incapacitated.  

A variant exists for the rare Kobold to be naturally inclined to certain magics, and they can select one of the following abilities based on their element, but their plus one in any other stat must be given up.

Earth:

Merge with Stone: You can cast the pass without trace spell once with this trait, targeting only yourself, requiring no material components, and you regain the ability to cast it this way when you finish a long rest. Constitution is your spellcasting ability for this spell. or Molded of Earth: You know Mold Earth cantrip. Constitution is your spellcasting ability for it.  

Fire:

Burning Image: You can cast the Mirror Image spell once with this trait, requiring no material components, and you regain the ability to cast it this way when you finish a long rest. Constitution is your spellcasting ability for this spell. or Ember Breath: You know the Firebolt cantrip. Constitution is your spellcasting ability for this spell.  

Swamp:

Poison of The Mind: You can cast the Blindness/Deafness spell once with this trait, requiring no material components, and you regain the ability to cast it this way when you finish a long rest. Constitution is your spellcasting ability for this spell. or Acidic Spit: You know the Acid Splash cantrip. Constitution is your spellcasting ability for this spell.  

Water:

Watery Eyes: You can cast the Blur spell once with this trait, requiring no material components, and you regain the ability to cast it this way when you finish a long rest. Constitution is your spellcasting ability for this spell. or Trick of The Eye: You know the Minor Illusion cantrip. Constitution is your spellcasting ability for this spell.  

Magma:

Playing With Fire: You know the Produce Flame cantrip. Constitution is your spellcasting ability for this spell. or Smoggy Illusion: You can cast the Darkness spell once with this trait, with a range of 5ft, requiring no material components, and you regain the ability to cast it this way when you finish a long rest. Constitution is your spellcasting ability for this spell.
