Alavarn Brauer

Alavern Brauer is a potion brewer... or that's what he is in the eyes of the lore.   He grew bored over the centuries, with only his snakes for company, and put his skills to work brewing moonshine and beer underground. There are a few Tavern-owners and innkeepers with whom he trades, all very under the table and under the floorboards. Direct sales are also made, all made with the utmost care for anonymity. Although, most with whom he traded were also engaging in... less than legal activities, so it was very much a holding each others tongues hostage kinda deal.   His other passion is breeding snakes... Which had become rather problematic for some of his business contacts at the Hag's End tavern. They'd strayed a little too far from their nest outside his forest dwelling and more than a little too close to the villagers they felt threatened their clutch of eggs. So a group of brave adventurers had been tasked with wrangling the snakes back to their nest, where they'd met Alavarn and his daughter and apprentice Cora.   Alavarn had taught Cora what he could, since that day she found him snake bitten and poisoned in the woods one day and nursed him back to health. Under his guidance she had learned how to wield her quarterstaff, whose gem was imbued with magical powers which enabled her to spellcast. However he had heard rumours from those he traded with that there were powerful druids guarding ancient druidic temples and he was far too busy at his brewery to go investigate himself, so he had sent Cora under the guise of helping her further with her training. He often felt fleeting moments of guilt, worried he had sent Cora into danger she may not be able to get out of. Shaking his head, he reasoned with himself that the group of adventurers were fitting companions for young Cora, and besides, it had grown rather tiring having a youngling halfling quite literally under his feet as she scampered about with that gung-ho attitude of hers.   He only hoped he had taught her enough.
