Required Material Component: A leather glove reinforced with hand bones harvested from a consecrated graveyard.
Description:
This spell allows the necromancer to attempt to make a touch attack while wearing a carefully crafted bone glove on one hand. If the touch attack is successful (attack against base AC, armor does not matter) the target must make a saving throw or be drained 1-4 hit points of damage. No matter how much damage the target takes, the necromancer will 'feed' upon the drain and gain one hit point. This is able to boost the necromancer beyond their maximum hit point total but in this case will only last for 1 turn.
The damage does not increase with level but the spell does become harder to resist. For every three caster levels the target has a -1 to their saving throw roll capping at level 18 for a total of -6. Note that for some strange reason this spell will not affect elves as the nature of their spirits (not souls) seem to resist this magic. If this spell is cast against an elf or if the target makes their saving throw the caster takes one hit point of damage (no save) as the negative energy is reflected back on them. This damage is unavoidable even if the caster is an elf.
Any weak creature killed by this spell (and no other damage) will convulse and moan as a mindless corpse for one turn. This effect is horrifying and may cause other weak creatures to suffer a morale check penalty.
Once the caster is level 9 and has fully mastered this spell, they may cast this spell with two bone gloves and make two attacks. Each attack is rolled separately without any dual wield penalty doing 1d4 damage and draining one hit point back to the caster for each successful hit.
