Cloak of Murderous Intent

Wondrous Item

Uncommon

This cloak looks like a Cloak of Dusk, but is actuall a Cloak of Murderous Intent. This heavy, dark cloak muffles the sounds of movement and helps when attempting to sneak. It has the following properties while being worn:

  • If you have disadvantage on Dexterity (Stealth) skill checks due to wearing armor that is negated so that it is a normal skill check.
  • You can attempt to hide even when only lightly obscured by foliage, heavy rain, falling snow, mist, & other natural phenomena
  • Any attacks made while successfully hidden do an additional 3 (1d6) damage on a hit.
  • Every time you make a Dexterity (Stealth) skill check, roll an additional d20. If you roll a 1 on the additional d20, the cloak will loudly complain about the current lack of murder and be heard by any creature that can hear within 100'. Depending on the circumstances as determined by the DM, this could cause the skill check to fail regardless of whether or not it would have succeeded otherwise.

A cloak of dusk is often a gift given to allies of dusk elf nobles, especially to those trusted with secretive tasks. Resembling this prized item is the cloak of murderous intent, an enchanted garment of uncertain origin. Was it a gift to a potentially troublesome person in the hopes it would lead to their death? Was it some enchanter's idea of a joke? Is it simply the result of a magic item getting a little too bloodthirsty?
