Stealth Action ZoM in Dystopia Rising RPG

Stealth Action ZoM

Area Affected

This ZoM usually encompases a module space, and may be included in addition to another Module ZoM in order to modify it's mechanics.

Description

It is a common task for adventuring sorts to be tasked with breaking into places they shouldn't be. While sometimes poor conditions means that this is as easy as sneaking through the bushes, frequently in Civilized areas, things like electric lights, alarm systems, and other complications can make that trickier.

Mechanics

While within this ZoM, effects that normally allow a Character to call 'Alert' do not function. Instead, special red lights may be present in the scene. Characters under the Stealth Gesture are revealed if they are fully illuminated by these Red Lights.

Characters under the Stealth gesture will not have the noises of their movements heard by other Characters within the scene. Characters not under the Stealth gesture may still be heard by other Characters in the scene.

In addition, certain other environmental areas may be present in Steal Action ZoM Areas, including:

  • Partial Cover: Often tarps, vines, camo netting, smoke, or other represention foliage, tall grass, or other visually concealling elements. Characters who remain Stationary in areas of Partial Cover are not revealed by use of a Red Light. Characters within the same Partial Cover are not revealed to each other.
  • Full Cover: Represented by tarps over tables, large boxes, other enclosures, or certain other areas designated by the Guide on scene, Characters in Full Cover are not revealed by use of a Red Light, and are immune to By My Voice Alert calls. Characters within the same Full Cover are revealed to each other.
  • Alarms, Lasers and Tripwires: Any character that trips a red laser beam, noise maker, or activates any Trap or other alarm device is Alerted in addition to any other effects that may occur from the trap or device.
PFA: Shadow: A Shadow may expend 1 Resolve when they would be revealed by a Red Light to instead call "Hide in Plain Sight" and remain immune to being revealed by Red Lights for as long as they remain Stationary.
