Curse of the Bog

3-level Enchantment

Casting Time: 1 action
Range/Area: 30 feet
Components: V, S, M
Materials: (a piece of swamp reed or a drop of swamp water)
Duration: Concentration, up to 1 minute
You utter an ancient curse and point at a creature you can see within range, invoking the malevolent magic of the bog witch. The target's skin starts to fester and ooze, turning slimy and grotesque as if rotting in a swamp.   The target must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or become poisoned for the duration of the spell. While poisoned in this way, the target's appearance becomes horrifying, causing the following effects:
  • Any creature that starts its turn within 5 feet of the target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or be frightened until the start of its next turn. This does not affect creatures that are blind, immune to being frightened, or those that can't see the cursed creature.
  • The cursed target has disadvantage on Charisma checks and Charisma saving throws.
At higher levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, you can target one additional creature for each slot level above 2nd. The creatures must be within 30 feet of each other when you target them.
