Defensive Energy Barrier (DEB) - Adverse and Strange Effects Table

Roll the Dice
System Overload – The system overloads causing a short circuit. You suffer electrical damage equal to your spellcasting ability modifier and the DEB fails to activate.
Barrier Instability – The barrier flickers inconsistently. Your AC only increases by 2 instead of 5 until the start of your next turn.
Feedback Pulse – A feedback pulse erupts from the barrier when hit, pushing you 5 feet in the direction opposite to the attack and you fall prone.
Visual Impairment – The barrier emits a bright light, blinding you until the start of your next turn.
Sonic Disturbance – The barrier emits a high-pitched noise only you can hear. You have disadvantage on your next attack roll.
Energy Drain – The barrier consumes more energy than anticipated. You lose access to one of your lowest-level spell slots (or cybernetic uses) until you complete a short or long rest.
Kinetic Absorption – The barrier absorbs kinetic energy from blocked attacks. On your next melee attack, you can release this energy to deal extra force damage equal to your spellcasting ability modifier.
Harmonic Resonance – The barrier stabilizes with a harmonic resonance. Gain temporary hit points equal to your spellcasting ability modifier until the start of your next turn.
Reactive Camouflage – The barrier interacts strangely with light, rendering you partially invisible. Attack rolls against you have disadvantage until the start of your next turn.
Alien Interference – The barrier taps into unknown alien frequencies present in Veridia, displaying strange symbols and messages only you can see. Gain a cryptic clue or piece of information from the DM regarding a puzzle, enemy, or scenario you are facing.
