The Insektari are a fascinating and enigmatic race of humanoid beings with distinct insectoid characteristics. Resembling a fusion of humans and various insects, they have captured the imaginations of scholars, adventurers, and storytellers alike. Despite their diverse appearances, all Insektari share some common traits, which set them apart from other races.   Physical Characteristics: Insektari possess an exoskeleton, a defining feature that varies in color, texture, and pattern depending on the subrace. Their bodies are segmented, and their limbs are often elongated, flexible, and jointed. They have large, compound eyes, granting them keen visual acuity in both bright light and darkness. Antennae protrude from their heads, and some may also have additional sensory organs like whiskers or feelers.   Subraces and Variations: The Insektari race is incredibly diverse, with several subraces representing different insect species. Each subrace has its unique features, such as the sturdy carapaces of the Scarabine, the iridescent wings of the Gossamer, the spinnerets and web-weaving abilities of the Arachni, and the strength and tireless work ethic of the Formic.   Societal Traits: Insektari societies vary widely across different regions and cultures. Some live in tightly-knit colonies led by a queen or a central authority figure, much like real-life insect hives. Others might follow more democratic or individualistic structures, reflecting the varied behaviors of their insect counterparts.   Communal Mindset: A common trait among the Insektari is their strong sense of community and cooperation. They often value the collective over the individual and are known for their willingness to work together to achieve common goals. This sense of unity extends beyond their own race, and they may form alliances with other races to combat shared threats or promote mutual prosperity.   Adaptability and Resilience: Insektari have evolved over centuries to adapt to various environments, leading to their survival in diverse ecosystems. Their insectoid features, such as the exoskeleton and resistance to poison, make them resilient in the face of physical challenges and environmental hazards.   Mysterious Origins: The origins of the Insektari remain a subject of speculation and legend. Some scholars believe they are a magically created race, while others theorize they are a result of ancient crossbreeding between humanoid beings and insects. Regardless of their origins, the Insektari's connection to the natural world and their affinity for insects continue to be a subject of wonder and mystery as they were not a product of the Dragons.   Attitudes Toward Other Races: Insektari attitudes toward other races can vary widely depending on individual experiences, cultural beliefs, and the relationships between their respective societies. While some may embrace diversity and seek cooperation, others might be cautious or wary of outsiders. Overcoming stereotypes and building trust with members of other races can be a significant part of an Insektari's journey.

race features:
Web Weaver: You have the ability to create webs using your innate spinnerets. As an action, you can create a web in an unoccupied space you can see within 30 feet. The web can be a simple trap to restrain creatures. It covers a 5-foot cube, and a creature entering the area must succeed on a DC 12 Dexterity saving throw or be restrained until it breaks free. The web lasts for 1 hour or until you dismiss it (no action required).     Spider Climb: You have the ability to climb difficult surfaces, including upside down on ceilings, without needing to make an ability check.
Physical Characteristics: Arachni Insektari are characterized by their lithe and agile bodies. They have eight jointed legs, each adorned with fine hairs and spines that allow them to traverse almost any surface with ease. Their sleek exoskeletons come in a range of colors, often blending into their surroundings to aid in stealth and camouflage.   Web Weaver: A defining feature of the Arachni is their ability to create webs using their innate spinnerets. These webs serve various purposes, from creating traps to capturing prey to constructing temporary shelters. Arachni are highly skilled in the art of web-weaving, and they can create intricate and durable structures to suit their needs.   Keen Senses and Perception: Arachni possess keen senses, particularly in terms of sight and vibration detection. Their multifaceted eyes grant them excellent vision, while the sensitive hairs on their legs allow them to perceive even the slightest movements and vibrations in their environment.   Cunning and Strategic: Arachni are known for their intelligence and cunning minds. They are strategic thinkers, capable of devising complex plans and analyzing situations quickly. Their web-weaving abilities reflect their calculated and patient nature, as they lay traps and carefully observe their prey.   Spider Climb: Arachni have the innate ability to climb difficult surfaces with ease, including walls and ceilings. This natural climbing ability allows them to explore their surroundings from unique vantage points and adds to their versatility as adventurers.   Adaptable and Solitary: Arachni are adaptable beings, able to thrive in various environments, from the depths of dark caves to the treetops of dense forests. While they can work well in groups when necessary, Arachni often prefer solitary lives, relishing the freedom and independence it offers.   Silent Communicators: Arachni are not as vocally expressive as other Insektari; instead, they communicate through subtle body movements, tapping their legs, and releasing pheromones. This silent form of communication allows them to coordinate effectively with one another, even over long distances.   Attitudes Toward Others: Arachni tend to be reserved and cautious around strangers, as they are inherently aware of potential threats and the need for self-preservation. They form close bonds with individuals they trust, showing great loyalty and commitment to those they consider allies.   Arachni Adventurers: Arachni adventurers often embark on quests that involve unraveling mysteries, seeking hidden knowledge, or protecting their homes from external threats. They may use their web-weaving abilities to ensnare foes, create clever traps, and navigate challenging terrains. While some Arachni choose the path of a solitary wanderer, others become valuable members of diverse adventuring parties, using their strategic minds to complement the skills of their allies.
