Water Serpent

Damage/Effect: magical bludgeoning
Creates 3 Water Serpents within 10" of the caster that can then move 60" per turn to a maximum of 240" away from the caster.
Each Water Serpent has:
  • hit points = 25 + caster proficiency;
  • AC = 10 + caster proficiency;
  • Resistance to piercing, slashing and bludgeoning damage, and fire damage;
  • Immunity to all conditions and acid damage
  • Cold damage reduces movement in feet of a Water Serpent by 2x equivalent amount of damage dealt
Water Serpents have substance and can be hit and damaged as normal.   Each turn the magician can direct an individual Water Serpent to attack an individual target. If an Water Serpent successfully strikes a target, the Water Serpent engulfs to the target unless destroyed, the magician loses concentration, the target successfully breaks the Water Serpent grapple or is directed away by the magician.   An attack roll is made each round for each Water Serpent and does the following to a target on a successful hit:
  • target is totally engulfed in a thrashing ball of water;
  • target is grappled and deafened due to the loud noise of the thrashing water;
  • deals 2d6 + magician proficiency bonus in magical bludgeoning damage;
  • automatically deals 2d6 + magician proficiency bonus in magical bludgeoning damage to the target at the start of the target's turn while engulfed;
  • the target can use zis action to make an opposed grapple attempt to escape being attached and grappled by the Water Serpent
  • if a target is engulfed for 3+ rounds, the target must make a constitution save at the start of each of its turns or begins to drown (see DMG)
At higher levels: Every spell slot 2 levels above 4th creates an additional Water Serpent.
