Talpi

Talpi have the closest common evolutionary ancestor to the Humans, but were raised to sentience by Sinti in the fertile Foster's Valley, running from the eastern slope of Mount Taldin to the outskirts of the Blood Desert on Rozhchul. They are highly social, often living fifteen or more to a house, sometimes with family sometimes with friends, and traditionally build homes partially underground or in the sides of hills, preferring the cool dampness.
Most Talpi never take a mate and instead spend their lives as they see fit, typically within their own family structure. Those that do mate, typically birth 4-10 pups. They were one of the first to encounter the other races due to their proclivity for socialization and the fact that travel to and from the Mountains of Night is most easily navigated through Foster's Valley. Their religions run the gamut and while worship of Sinti is a majority of Talpi tradition, it is only a small majority.

Like their mole ancestors, Talpi are covered in silky fur that can range in colors from black, cream, grey, orange, white, or any combination of those. They typically stand between 3 and 4 feet tall, squat with soft features. Their hands and feet have 5 digits apiece capped with fairly sharp claws, and their eyes, while great at seeing in the dark, usually require darkened lenses of some sort to see comfortably in full light. They have star-noses which allow them to examine small items with incredible detail.
