Description


Crafted around a core of Christmas whimsy, this ring appears to be a blizzard trapped in the shape of a ring, and is just as cold to the touch. While attuned to this item, a sudden flurry of winter's last snow gusts around you whenever you cast a spell with the cold damage type, and you gain the following:

Winter's Bite.


When you deal cold damage with a spell, add an additional 1d4 cold damage.

If the optional materials have been used when crafting Snowball's Blessing, it gains the following:

Charges


Snowball's Blessing has ten charges. 1d6+4 charges are regained after a long rest. While wearing this ring, you may expend a charge to use one or more of the following abilities:

Winter's Touch.

Prerequisite: 2 Units of Lunar Nectar


When you roll cold damage for a spell you cast, you may reroll any roll of 1 on the cold damage dice, but you must use the new roll, even if it is another 1.

Olaf's Wish.

Prerequisite: 3 Units of Eternal Ice


When you cast a spell that deals a type of damage other than cold, you may change the damage type to cold.

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year.

Prerequisite: 5 Units of the Essence of Christmas


When you hit with a spell that deals cold damage, you may conjure and throw a snowball. This snowball automatically hits all targets of the spell, magically multiplying if there is more than one, deals 1 cold damage, and benefits from Winter's Bite as though it were a spell.

Gathering Materials



Lunar Nectar.

You must travel through the mountains (DC 14 Survival Check per day to find a suitable camp site). Lunar Nectar must be harvested at night after a succeeding on a hard skill challenge. This challenge may be bypassed with the help of a local guide familiar with the area's wild herbs. You may harvest one unit of Lunar Nectar per successful skill challenge.

Eternal Ice.

You must travel through an arctic region (DC 10 Survival Check per day to find a suitable camp site). You may attempt to harvest Eternal Ice from any arctic creature. The encounter must come from !terrain or your daily !r 6d100 "Below 26 means !table wilderness" wilderness encounter checks.

Essence of Christmas.

You must travel through an arctic region (DC 10 Survival Check per day to find a suitable camp site). You may harvest attempt to harvest Essence of Christmas after any encounter from !terrain or your daily !r 6d100 "Below 26 means !table wilderness" wilderness encounter checks. If you are interrupted, or fail to harvest the Essence of Christmas, roll a 1d6. On a 1, you encounter 2d6 carolling Kobolds wearing long red caps and carrying instruments; on a 2, you encounter one deranged Halfling Commoner with an axe; on a 3, you encounter an Ice Mephit; on a 4, you encounter 1d8 Reindeer pulling an empty sled; on a 5, you encounter a talking snowman; on a 6, use the !interruption # command as normal.
