Covenant

Ring

Legendary Requires Attunement by a Siverain Requires Attunement

This simple, bulbous golden ring scintillates in the moonlight, revealing an intricate pattern of silver flecks and tiny gemstones like the night sky beneath a thin layer of translucent gold.

Sentience. Covenant is a sentient chaotic neutral ring with an Intelligence of 20, a Wisdom of 14, and a Charisma of 22. It has hearing and darkvision out to a range of 120 feet.
The weapon communicates telepathically with its wielder and can speak, read, and understand Common, Halfling, and Sylvan.

Personality. The flow ghost of an ancient Zeino’sha Siverain inhabits Covenant. The weapon speaks to its wielder in that long-deceased Siverain’s voice. It is deeply suspicious of strangers but jovial around the wearer’s kin.

Dormant

The ring grants the following benefits in its dormant state:

  • You can read, speak, and write Halfling and Sylvan.

  • Weave Bubble. As a bonus action on your turn, you can activate the ring. It projects a dome of arcane energy much like a shield that you can use to protect yourself, while leaving your hands free. The dome grants you a bonus of +2 to your Armor Class. If you are wielding a shield, you do not benefit from its bonus to your Armor Class. The dome disappears at the start of your next turn unless you immediately use your bonus action to maintain it.

  • Weave Bullet. As a bonus action on your turn, you can cause the ring to produce up to 3 spheres of magical force that last for 1 minute or until they have been used to make an attack. They can be used as ammunition for a sling or firearm, dealing 1d8+1 force damage instead of the weapon’s normal damage. A sphere can also be used as a thrown weapon with a range of 30/120 by you or another creature. The wielder is considered proficient with it, and adds your Flow Ability modifier to its attack and damage rolls.

Awakened

When the ring reaches an awakened state, it gains the following properties:

  • The Armor Class bonus of the ring’s Weave Bubble feature increases to +3.

  • The damage of Weave Bullets created by the ring increases to 1d8+2.

  • Spell Shield. While the ring’s Weave Bubble feature is active, you can use your reaction when you are targeted by a spell that forces you to make a Strength or Dexterity saving throw to block the spell with the weave bubble. You take no damage from the spell on a successful saving throw, and take half of the spell’s normal damage on a failed saving throw. You are unaffected by any other effects of the spell.

The spell shield can absorb a spell of 3rd level or lower, and no more than 5 levels worth of spells in total before it bursts. When the spell shield bursts, the Weave Bubble property of the ring cannot be used again until the next day at dawn.

Exalted

When the ring reaches an exalted state, it gains the following properties:

  • The Armor Class bonus of the ring’s Weave Bubble feature increases to +4.

  • The damage of Weave Bullets created by the ring increases to 1d8+3.

  • The ring’s Spell Shield feature can absorb spells of up to 5th level, and it can absorb a total of 8 levels of spells.

  • Extended Barrier. When you use the ring’s Spell Shield feature, you can grant its benefits to up to 2 additional creatures within 15 feet of you. After using this property, you cannot use it again until the next day at dawn.
