Just another manufactured, fog-brained dreg of The United Perpetual States of Confusion. Trying, but barely focused enough, to slowly scribe my long-languishing collection of concepts into a cohesive story. It'll be awesome when it's finished though, really it will!

Borrowing books from the library as a kid is really what sparked my interest in them. There has been some required reading for school mixed in there as well. (The Chronicles of Narnia, Henry and Ribsy, Ramona and Beezus, The Pigman, Lizard Music) I have been watching cartoons and anime since an early age and still do. I also watched a lot of movies that got my brain thinking of ideas. (Romancing the Stone, The Road Warrior, Back to the Future, Willow, Robocop)

Then I started collecting comic books with GI Joe, Spider-man, and Ghost Rider being my first ones. Once I discovered indy comics like Gold Digger, Scud, Strangers in Paradise, Animal Mystic, Poison Elves, and Thieves & Kings, I mostly switched over to those. They made me want to build my own world with a combination of all the genres (superheroes, anthropomorphic mixed beings from another dimension, post-apocalyptic, sword & sorcery, western, future tech, time travel) and draw my own comics.

I achieved an Associate of Applied Arts degree in Graphic Design & Illustration, but still couldn't get myself to draw enough to keep contemplating a career in comic creation. So, I started working on the novelized version of my ideas (far longer ago than I like to admit). I've been pecking at it and switching gears ever since, sometimes going years with it on the back burner but always on my mind.

I've been diagnosed a couple of times as having Inattentive ADHD. It really is hard for me to sit down and concentrate on writing my story ideas, and I too often find myself getting bogged down with re-reading and micro-editing when I should keep writing. "Nothing's going to get published if I don't finish the story. I can edit after that," I keep telling myself.

Having finally finished a book where I still like what I'm reading after multiple readings is an amazing feeling! It's a blow to my ego and self-confidence when I can't get any feedback and praise though. Do I write these solely for myself? I'm thinking "No." I need these to be enjoyed by others and I internalize disappointment and pointlessness when the evidence shows that they are not.

Oh, and that character in my profile/avatar picture is my Tala'm character Jayce. He's as much a reflection of my inner self as Crow is.

Creating character sheets as closely as I could to my vision and roleplaying various characters I had drawn for my large novel series, The Truth of Tala'm: Trencher's Quest (still in development), really helped to flesh out several of them. I will always be grateful to my DM's and fellow players for those experiences.
