Shellback Tattoo (ritual)

Shellback tattoos are given to spacefarers who have spent at least three months in space and crossed at least one wormhole. The receiving of a shellback tattoo is preceded by an initiation ceremony for the spacefarer, known as "Crossing the Stars".
