Oh fuck off!!! -Dayne ReedDayne Reed is an incredible bastard. Finding any soul willing to speak a good word about the man is as impossible a task as can be imagined. Yet, for all the ill-will and enemies he's cultivated over the years the man survives... thrives even. What's known about Reed with certainty is that he operates a Ruin Sweeper business out of Ghal Pelor known as the Blackhearts. He has a reputation for accepting the most dangerous contracts and then sending Blackheart employees into the fray while he waits at the company's dingy office in Crowcoil(or upstairs in his equally dingy personal flat). Other agreed-upon facts include: he's consistently broke, generally drunk or searching out the means to be so, a well known womanizer and maneater, a devious warrior who favors old dwarven firearms over blades, and a ruthless cheat who's often seen lifting copper aurins from the cups of beggars. What's even more interesting than the sordid facts are the rumors. He claims to be a retired adventurer and says he 'cut his teeth hunting Fae' but no one's ever been able to confirm such a claim. Most say the amount of alcohol he consumes has resulted in pickling him into his current state of general poor health but there are a few long lived elves and dwarves in the city that swear they've seen this man around since the days of The Queen's Rebuke. And, while it's an absolute fact that he has had dalliances with men and women all across the city, he seems to have no children or loved ones of any kind - a point of pride for Reed it seems. Regardless of the despicable truths and insidious rumors, Reed's time is spent in the Blackhearts' office where he negotiates contracts with parties interested in the city's ruins. This could be jobs from the city itself to clear out sections of Lakewatch Vale for redevelopment. It might take the form of independent parties hiring the Blackhearts to retrieve something precious from the Vale for them. The city's constabulary will frequently hire Reed to track down wanted individuals in the seedier areas of the city such as Crowcoil, Trellaun Row, or Brisbane. Trips outside the city aren't uncommon either. Nearby Ackley Point, Theawood, and Beldon have an abundance of opportunity as well. If not at the office or passed out in his upstairs flat, Reed can be found at Oakley's Ales. It's located just across the street and two blocks north of the Blackhearts' office, just close enough for Reed to stumble there drunk. Oakley's is known for its dilapidated state, grubby clientele, terrible drinks, and for having once been an Ackley Ales franchise that lost its license.
