Prelude 1: The New Officer Report
General Summary
1st of Erlspri, 1568.
As taken by Scribe Nigel Serjiore from a company of Pax Venatores in the Square Keep of Caeris.
With their former officer, Zax, being discharged for gentlemanly misconduct, the group arrives at Caeris to meet with their new one. Bernarius Kaiser is a fresh recruit from Osternfel. Despite being new he has an expansive career behind him as an officer in his home-kingdom's army. He was tasked with capturing and extracting of Sevi Junior, also known as Blue Eyed Sevi.
The group rendezvous with Bernarius and in order to receive the information they need they all go to meet with a captain named Varrik Raymond in a tavern called Howling Betty. Raymond was in charge of the intelligence gathering of the operation and knows how to quickly find Sevi.
Finding Howling Betty is proven easy enough, thanks to Zes's "refined" and extremely inquisitive questioning techniques. Inside the inn itself though, it's another story. The group enters in full uniforms and nearly blow Raymond's cover leaving him no choice but to bolt through the kitchen. Bernarius and Condoriano follow him to a back alley and the meeting almost tuns into a fight, but Condoriano quickly calms the situation and both parties agree to meet again at the market in the late morning of the following day. They return to the Forgetful Swine, an inn they checked in with earlier.
2nd of Erlspri, 1568.
They leave for the market the next morning and Raymond makes them walk on endless loops through the streets and alleyways before agreeing to finaly talk. He informs them that he has been operating in the city for 2 years already, infiltrating a smuggling ring that runs under Sevi's management and tells them there's a bounty of 500Sp to catch him alive. He provides them with his description, a human with long brown hair that is receding in the middle with a gold and blue prosthetic eye. He has a nasty scar on the right side of his face but his mouth is usually covered with a bandana. Finally, Raymond asks the group to deliver Sevi to him at the south docks so he can take him to Fort Indigo to claim the bounty.
They indeed find Sevi, but as they discuss how to approach him he starts towards the southern harbor and they tail him to warehouse 13, the place they agreed to meet at with Raymond once they found Sevi. They enter the warehouse to find Sevi standing over the dead Raymond as he turns himself invisible. They charge at him but he manage to flee as 4 men enter the warehouse, wielding crossbows. The group makes short work of them but Sevi is nowhere to be seen. They quickly check the body, and find Sevi's wanted poster, with a prize sum of 2000Sp.
