Wraiths of Ria

Hold the flame in your heart and no wraith will ever be able to harm you, Call upon her loving light and she will be insider of you even during the darkest of nights.

The Wraiths of Ria are a faerietale told to Getunnieri children to when they go to bed. The that this the tale spins aim to teach the young children to be good and never forget their morning prayers to Helianna, the All-glowing Mother their ever glowing mother.

The story of the wraiths is being told for over 30 generations and as far as people remember it started during a fateful night at the 3rd of the 3rd of 906 IA.

As the story goes, three children, Willow, Nutmeg and Ember were playing into the forest hunting down a small family of rabbits. As the time past, the children soon discovered that they were lost and could not remember which way they came. As the darkness started to descend, the children started to panic and crying. Willow decided that the best way to find their way would be to climb a tree and find the smoke of the village, Nutmeg thought it best to close his eyes and listen for the creek that led back to the village. Ember the youngest of the three sat on the forest floor and using a stick carved to the mud the shape of the Everglowing mother and prayed to her for guidance. Hours have past and the children started to hear voices around them speaking in tongues incomprehensive to the children. Nutmeg was the first to hear them and terrified started screaming and running deeper and deeper into the forest. Willow stuck upon the first tall branches of the tree started to tremble and as the wraiths appeared around him shuddered lost his balance and fell from high up in the tree on the rocks below, motionless and silent as the spirits danced around him. Young Ember was the only one that kept on praying, singing and smiling as the wraiths encircled her, fearless in her unshakened belief that Heliana is around and inside her. For the whole of the night the wraiths tried to eat her sould and she stood in the middle of that open patch of grass. In the morning when the villagers found her she was smiling and told the villagers how the light of Heliana protected her from the Wraiths.

Ember became the first of Heliana's Flame Maidens, the creator of one of the most influential and radical sects of Helianism and the first to ever take the Journey to Heliana's embrace at the age of 99.

A fascinating story! I wonder if that's truly how it went down, or if Ember did something nefarious to the other children...? :O I really enjoyed reading this.

You have a knack of asking the right questions. I will leave it at that :)

Such a great story - as a child hearing it, I definitely would never forget to say my prayers again. I also like (maybe the wrong word?) the actual truth behind the story. Interesting.
