Details

After waking up in the Dragon Turtle Inn and getting a quick breakfast, the group went out to meet King Kaden Redaxe and ask about more details on their mission.   Sadly, the king could not provide a lot more information. A strange ship crashed north of Saltrest, and after losing a couple of his villagers and soldiers, Jarl Frostgale send for help. There are even rumours that this strange vessel fell from the sky. The king's resources have been stretched thin already, so he could not send his own people and requested help from the Confederation of the Golden Coast.   Just quickly visiting the Driftwood Depot to stock up on supplies, the group went on their way northwards to Saltrest, the hometown of Bern Dolgral. Four days of travel later, with some very sore feet, especially on Luna's part, they arrived at their destination.   Immediately Bern headed to his home looking for his parents, while the group went to talk to Jarl Frostgale. Apparently, for a while now, the Sahuagin have been raiding the village, killing many of its citizens as a sacrifice to some eldritch being. Then a couple weeks ago, a strange ship crashed just an hour north of the village - some people even claiming it fell from the sky.   The Jarl sent a small group of warriors to the shipwreck, but none of them returned. Also after the crash, the Sahuagin began taking prisoners, including Bern and his parents. He promised to take care of Bern while the group figures out what's going on in that shipwreck. Before heading out Anabela went to Bern and comforted him until some family friends arrived to take care of him.
The sight before you is entirely alien, like nothing you've seen before. A strange, twisted metal ship has smashed into the ground, crumpling up and scattering debris far and wide. Bizarre tentacle-like tubes attached to the hull, and foul smelling vapours rising from the wreckage. This otherworldly vessel seems to be incomplete, as if torn from a much larger structure. But even it its current state, it rivals the biggest trading ships you have ever seen.
The group headed to the wreckage. They found a couple of corpses, and many webbed footprints around them. They unlocked the door and immediately got attacked by an elf like humanoid who seemingly could not feel any pain. The moment they died, their skull split open and a creature looking like a brain jumped out. The group dealt with this strange creature before it could do any harm.   Within the wreck, the group found a dozen tubes, half of them filled with these alien, brain-like creatures, the other half filled with even stranger tadpoles. When the group arrived, all these creatures were already dead.   At the other side of the ship, behind another metal door, was a huge circular room, dominated by a gigantic brine pool which levitated a few inches above the ground. The whole structured seemed unnatural, a mixture of molten rock and metal - covered in otherworldly glyphs and script.   The moment Luvock touched this pool, a flood of images invaded his mind. The same thing happened to the others once they started investigating the pool.
The horrifying sound of shearing metal fills your brain, and a sequence of images flash through your mind. First, you glide through a strange silvery sea, dotted with distant stars. Suddenly, you are face to face with several green-skinned humanoids. They stab again and again into your gut with their silver swords. With a blinding flash, you’re hurtling toward the ground, flames surrounding you. And then you hit the ground.
Knowing that the Sahuagin's base of operations is in the sunken wreck of the Golden Crown - the last ship that left the Mines of Berranzo - the group started to make their way to the Mines of Madness, hoping to find any clues about what is going on there.
