Agean Mountains
Just north of the Kingdom of Kyrnn, these mountains hold back the wasteland that is the Marred Wastes. This means that the northern parts aren't populated which has led to various strange creatures taking up residence. This, in turn, has prevented even more people from living here.
The mountains here are jagged, having formed partially as the result of a meteor strike early in Ailion's history. Later tectonic shifts raised the lower part of the continent slightly, elevating the Agean mountains further. This makes the chain quite short, but very tall. Despite its latitude, the tallest peaks are covered in snow all year.
Geography
While there are many possible paths across the mountains, none of them are very safe, and most choose to travel around them. Slopes are steep and precarious. Many of the paths have steps or bridges carved into them, but wise travellers are wary of how any structures might be broken, trapped, or defended. Or all of the above.
The Lothana Forest to the east stretches up on the closest mountains but stops soon after that. The Agean mountains stretch all the way to the sea in the west, resulting in a couple of tiny islets off the coast.
