The open air brothel ward of Sumichou is the district's major draw. The idea of such activities being performed in the public eye is shocking to most. But the shock value sparks the interest from the less reputable members of yokai society.
Nothing is off limits in this district. If a customer asks and has the money, the brothels grant their request. Cash is king. Don't even think about trying to use a credit card here. That transaction type takes too long for those selling negotiable affection. They even sell the most potent designer drugs in the street-side vending machines. Put in your order with the front door guard/receptionist and they book you a host or hostess to suit your request. Though prepare yourself. The more extreme the request, the longer the wait.

At first, the clientele consisted only of Sumichou residents. Rumors spread throughout and beyond Kabukicho (directly above Sumichou) that customers could have the wildest and best time in the underground. Word of mouth is the best advertising.History
When Sumichou was created, the initial call for the sex-trade wasn't in high demand because the above ground establishments catered to the whims of the clientele. But as more spirit folk visited, the willingness of humans to cater to increasingly fetished requests faded. So the Akumakai built their own brothels, and business boomed. The ward turned open air when the oiran of all genders and species complained they could not meet the high demand for their services. They needed to service clients faster. The Akumakai's solution? Remove the visible walls and have the brothels put bodyguards and transparent barriers in front of the establishment to control the crowds.Mature Content
