Locking Of The Doors

I'm not too sure how I'm going to make a full article on the concept of locking a door, but I'm going to try. Back when the terani weren't nomadic, we lived in small settlements that were haunted with a Blood Moon Monster during Blood Moons. We would lock doors and keep ourselves inside on this night, so the monster wouldn't catch and kill us.

History

The first locks were designed about 5000 years ago, by an unnamed man. The first proposal of the locks were immediately accepted, since it was already functional and served much better than having no locks. For a while too, the blood monster never managed to open the doors, after trying on a few occasions. That was until the blood monster tested out how to open the doors, and wedged its fingers between the gap between the wall and door, and slid the lock upwards, opening it.

Once this happened, the creator of the original wooden lock was commissioned to design a more secure one. Months of meticulous design and failed attempts resulted in what is now known as a metal lock, which when proposed was immediately copied and made for every single house in every single settlement, with no exception. These locks proved incredibly effetive against blood monster, as the monster never managed to open doors after he metal locks were used.

One In A Blood Moon

For some reason, the locks were only used for the blood moons. The locks were theoretically effective against burglars or anyone who attempted to access a house that wasn't theirs, but that never dawned on the terani. The locks were only used on blood moons, resulting in it being more of a tradition.

Locks

Unfortunately, the blood monster ended up figuring out how to open doors. A few people were eaten, which brought about the invention of locks. They were simple designs at the start, but evolved into more advanced, metal locks.

Wooden Locks

The first lock design was extremely simple, and made of wood. It involved a small wooden slab loosely drilled into the door, that could rotate into a small gap in the wall, so the door couldn't be opened. The blood moon monster eventually figured out to wedge its talons in the lock, and push it up and out, allowing it inside.

Metal Locks

The more advanced lock design involved metal, and the most intelligent terani to figure out. Metal locks were the latest in technology for the terani, requiring a specific key to fit, allowing only the person with this key inside. Several copies of a certain key were made, in case one was lost or for other people to access the house, but the metal locks would prevent the blood moon monster from getting inside as it doesn't have any key.
