Wrathful Mane

Blue and white will set you right, pink and blue you'll say boohoo.

— Jhoutioan Saying

A subspecies of Euphraesthi's Mane that grows a similar silken strand. Unlike the other strands, these strands are tipped with an painful barbs filled with peptides that inflame. This low movement creature has been 'planted' in the past for area-denial, and it's strands have been used for a multitude of applications.

Wrathful Mane can only be found in the caves of the deeper Corallums, where they must be carefully harvested

A Nefarious Beginning

Wrathful Mane were first found on the Jhoutai mainland during the original settling of the Sazashi. The subspecies proved itself a menace upon discovery, but was recognized as an easy way to keep predators and people away.

The Wrathful Mane was sent back to the Verin in their homeland. The painful plant took on many bleak purposes. Torture, punishment, booby traps, and more. Some law-bringers of the time would grow Mane to wield like a whip, bringing a new level of pain to bare against their enemies.

A Beneficial Lease

The Wrathful Mane, harvested only for it's pain-inducing properties, showed its beneficial side only after the invention of modern pharmaceuticals. A Jhoutai company developed a pain-blocking medication out of the Wrathful Mane's peptide chains. With distillation and processing, the strands could be converted into a potent pain-killer.

Wrathful Mane Painkillers are still used in Banner-era Medicine.

I like the way you've used a pain inducing plant as a pain killer.

Right? I took the inspiration from the premise of the Dendrocnide Excelsa, or the Australian Giant stinging tree, as it is being studied as a way to form new pain blockers!
